WinDVD Pro 11 won't play MKV files

Post by Jacob_K »

Hello,

This is my first time on the forums and using a Corel product.

I just bought WinDVD Pro 11 and installed it via the disc. I tried to play some of my files, everything seems to work fine apart from my mkv files. I tried updating my player so I installed the Service Pack 1 but that did not help.
My Windows Media Player can play it fine. Does WinDVD Pro 11 not support MKV files? If it does what do I need to do to make it play?

I downloaded the files onto my HDD.

When I try any other file it plays fine but when I try and play a mkv file it shows the first frame and then windows says that WinDVD Pro 11 has stopped working and it closes.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Regards

I can't really help since I don't have WinDVD 11 Pro. But looking at the Corel.com website, MKV is listed among the formats its is supposed to play:
Enjoy crisp, vivid playback of all popular file formats, including Blu-ray 3D™, BD-Live™, BDXL™, AVCREC™, DivX® for Windows® 7, FLV, QuickTime®, Windows Media® (WMV), DVD-Video, MPEG, MTS, M2TS, MKV, MP4, 3GP and much more!
Hopefully some other user with first hand experience might be able to assist further...

Thanks for the suggestion Abiel.

I downloaded the CCCP but WinDVD still crashes when I try to play a MKV, am I doing something wrong?
