Post Audio Track Fade Problem

Post by moshe »

Happy Holidays everyone!
I have another weird problem with my VS Pro x4 Ultimate.Everything is fine when I fade audio clips in and out when previewed within the "editing" program, but once the project is watched just before the burning stage, the fade at each end of the audio track is lost.

I have reinstalled the program 3 times. Im noticing that at least 4 past projects that used to be fine are now doing that also.

UPDATE....There is no sound problem when creating "DVD Folders". After burning with Nero the fade in/out sound was great.

Hi

I don’t quite understand, if the completed video has no audio problems, then where is the problem?

Instead of doing Share Create Disc choose Share Create Video File—DVD
The saved file will be a Mpeg2 suitable for burning the disc, but you can play this using one of your media players to check the quality, do you have audio problems.
If yes then provide us with the details of your original video file

Hi Lata. Thanks for your reply.

On the Preview screen that comes right before burning the DVD, all Fade in and outs are gone. And after I burn the DVD, with VS Pro X4 Ultimate, same thing that happened during the preview happens on the DVD, The audio doesnt fade in or out.

Later that night I decided to make a "DVD Folder" and use Nero to burn the files and everything was fine. All the fade ins and outs worked :? .

I want to also try your method for burning: SHARE > CREATE VIDEO FILE > DVD > SELECT DVD FOLDER.

Yesterday I tried SHARE > CREATE DISK > DVD > SELECT DVD FOLDER.
Then I used Nero 9 to burn and everything came out fine. Will your method come out much better? Burning outside of VS is new to me.

Thank you

SHARE > CREATE VIDEO FILE > DVD > SELECT DVD FOLDER.
I'm replying in case Trevor has already gone to bed!

It is not quite as simple as selecting the above. You first select Share > Create Video File > DVD. The project will then be rendered to produce a DVD-compatible mpeg-2. Then you start a new project -- don't bother with a name for it, since the objective is merely to clear the Editing timeline. We do this because otherwise, if you leave the project in the timeline, then when you select Share > Create Disc > DVD, it is the project file (.vsp) which will appear automatically in the burning timeline. We don't want that. But with an empty editing timeline, when you open the burning module, there should be nothing in the burning timeline. If there is, manually remove it.

Then you click the Add Media button in the top left of the burning module and browse to select you new mpeg-2. The icon for that then appears in the burning timeline. You then divide it into chapters if you want, then construct your menu. Then preview, when hopefully everything should be working. Then on the final burning page select DVD Folder (or ISO) so you can see if the burned project performs correctly on a software DVD player. If so, and if you prepared an ISO, then X4 came with an ISO burner, I think. But if not, and whether you have a DVD Folder or ISO, a program like Nero will, as you have found, burn it to disc in as many copies as you need.

Note that if you get a message towards the start of the burning process that it is "Converting title", then something has gone wrong. That means that it is again rendering your mpeg-2, which should not happen. It should only convert the menu to video, do the video/audio multiplexing and "burn" the disc/folder/iso... In that case, first check in the cog-wheel Options icon in the bottom left of screen that the box beside "Do not convert compliant MPEG files" is ticked (as it should be by default.)

Hi

A little more info,

Once you have created the Mpeg 2 file, use one of your Media Players to view the movie, I use VLC Media Player--you can check the quality, the contents of this file will be burned to disc as is, refer to Kens comment re- Convert Title or rather Not Convert Title.

Just one thought, the fade in /fade out are part of the main video and not the menu transitions are they?

And thanks we will try our best to have a good holiday season, hope you have the same.
For us we are heading to Brazil and up the Amazon

Sorry for the late response Lata.

The fade in/fade out was part of the main video, the time line. I dont use Menus much.

Have a fun and safe trip up the Amazon. I'll be shoveling snow in Chicago

Hi

Just to clarify what Ken and myself would like you to try.

With the project open in the timeline, you have completed all edits.
Share Create Video File-DVD—DVD 16:9
This will render the project to a single video file, this video is suitable of being used to burn a disc without further rendering.
But first play the video using one of your media players. Do you have problems with the audio, if no.
Start a new project, nothing in the timeline, File Save As, give it a name, “burn my movie” would do.
Share Create Disc—opens the burner module
Top Left Add Media – Add Video—add the video you created above.

On the final window choose to create a Disc Image or DVD Folder, saves making those coasters.
I use Disc Image option, when complete can play using VLC Player.
