object alignment

Post by rs219 »

How does one put one object in front of another? I have created 2 objects - body and initials which are listed in that order in the object manager. The initials are inside the body but exposed between part of the body shape. I have a "grow + spin" set of motions on the initials, but the grow part is behind the body. There is no "send to back" or other tool or command to put the initials "in front" of the body. Thinking that the order of the objects had something to do with it, I cut the body and re-pasted so that body was then 2nd in the list of objects --- but the result is still the same --- growing the initials stays behind the body.

It is very fundamental to place objects in front of or behind in any graphics/video/3D software title. Am I missing something obvious?

Hi

The graphic is 3D
I think you have to adjust the position, X and Y change the 2D location on screen
Z changes the distance from the viewer

After more experimentation, I found how to do this and it is quite kluggy. You have to select both objects in the order you want the Align to affect them. Then Align -> Front and the 1st object selected will go in front of the 2nd object. Really, not a very intuitive implementation.

And how do you select both objects?
