PSE is a toy in my eyes.
Since you are using iMatch, I guess you must have many good reasons. Why did you chose iMatch?
That choice was made many years ago.
Scripting is a key reason for me, because as soon as you need more than a bit of basic cataloging users needs vary greatly, so being able to script things becomes important. iMatch is powerful enough to drive business processes in image agencies.
Private namespaces for organizational metadata (iMatch hierarchical categories), stored queries, customizable displays and edit masks are other things that I consider important.
I'm using Windows now, but can envisage a day when I switch back to Linux. Basically I try to use software that is cross-platform (Win, Linux, Mac) to prepare for the day I switch.
Been hoping for that too long to still believe it...

cheers

@coolrat

FWIW, at least the basic functionality of iMatch runs under WINE. I never took my research any further, because my - amateur - cataloguing needs are easily met in AS. But I wouldn't let the lack of a specific linux version put me off buying iMatch if I needed its special sauce features.

It has a long steep learning curve.
But it is extremely powerful.
Powerful? Yes. Long, steep learning curve? I wouldn't have said so. If you haven't used a real DAM then are some new concepts to familiarise yourself with. And any program that is powerful is by its very nature deep, which means that you can continue to learn for a long time should you choose to. But there are some basic concepts that you can learn quite quickly and get yourself up and running. And unlike here, you can usually get prompt interaction with the developer when needed.

Bizarre! Cataloguing images works for me (Sony ARW from my A55) on Crossover 11.3 running on Lisa Maya KDE (32 bit). Some operations are slow, but then I am running on a laptop with only 3G of RAM.
