Re: PSP Pro X5 starts slowly
There are a lot of topics on the board about PSP starting slowly. On the whole PSP is very fast for most people. But every now and again something goes wrong for someone else. The following are the 3 main areas that I know of that will cause problems for PSP. I make no guarantees that any of these relate to your issue though.
1) Do you have a lot of images on your computer? It's possible that PSP is trying to catalog them all. Sometimes even a ruined database can cause this issue.
PSP has been kind of hit or miss at times with its cataloging. Especially if there are any image files that it chokes on. And then there are the times when a database becomes corrupt and PSP just tries to work around it, really slowing itself down.
There are three potential ways to approach this. 1) Reset your workspace by opening PSP while holding down the SHIFT key. This will reset PSP to it's initial install and should reset the database as well. 2) Manually remove the database. The database can be found in a hidden folder called "AppData" in your user folder. Just put this into your file view's address bar
%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Corel PaintShop Pro\15.0\Database
You'll see and ImageDB.db file. Delete that, then open PSP and it'll create a brand new one to take its place.
3) Uninstall and reinstall PSP it's possible something went wrong there.
Back onto the situations I know about
2) Do you need or want to use PSP's built in Manage mode?
If the answer is no, try turning off PSP's caching options.
Go to File -> Preferences -> General Program Preferences then under the Manage section make sure to turn everything off. On the Exclude extensions list make sure to select all of the extensions to exclude everything. Then in the Uncatalog folders list make sure to add all of the folders your photos are in.
This will completely stop PSP from cataloging your images for its manage mode.
3) Sometimes PSP's scratch Disk function causes it to act slowly. If you have this turned on and it's using your main harddrive as its scratch disk turn it off. This is found under the File -> Preferences -> General Program Preferences Display and Caching section.

Re: PSP Pro X5 starts slowly
According to your bio your computer only has 960mb of RAM. 1.5gb is recommended. PSP X5 may not be the right program for your computer right now. You may look into the possibility of upgrading your RAM, or if you're pretty close to your system's maximum may want to start saving for a new computer.

Re: PSP Pro X5 starts slowly
It looks like your computer is using a shared memory... usually shared with your graphics card this may slowdown your program like PSP and other editing programs. If you do not have the money.. you can at least get a dedicated memory for your computer... memory nowadays are dirt cheap compare before.
