Boris Grafitti Key Framer Error

Hi Guys
Finally got the Boris Graffiti plug in to install when I start the program I am presented with this error message on the start screen


After select OK the Programs GUI opens and the program seems to function OK. I tried the repair option downloading a new copy of the VSX5 bonus disc
uninstalling and reinstall but still same problem.
It appears that this is a standalone app inside the Boris FX folder

Unless the missing dll is supposed to be coded inside Graffiti5 Key-framer exe launcher the Boris Plugin program appears not to use any dynamic link library files but but uses the AEX compiled add-in library script file type.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated or just put up with the annoying error message when the plugin launches?

Hi

Boris Graffiti should show in the FX Libraries
The filter should be listed under Specials and All.

Drag this filter to a clip in the timeline
Double click the clip to open the Options panel.
Boris Graffiti 5.4 should show in the filter panel, choose customize.

If the popup window requests a serial/activation number, Un-install and Re-install the filter, do not use repair.

So do you have problems opening Boris from Video Studio

If this is the free plug-in supplied with VS I don't think I would worry to much about it unless you intend to purchase the plug-in. The version supplied with VS is only an evaluation copy and the trial period does not last very long - then you need to buy an unlock code which here in the UK cost £69 GBP - so you need to be serious about whether you need Boris before you spend to much time worrying about getting it working.

Hi Brian

Boris Graffiti is provided with X5 Ultimate as part of the Bonus disc/files. It is not a valuation copy.

It may be tweaked for VS but certainly wont run out.

Have you tried to use Boris recently Trevor - especially more than 3 months after you installed it.

Whatever I try to do with Boris FX I get a large X right across the video and a message that says I need to purchase an unlock code.

Hmmm... Mine seems to work fine and no cross. I've had X5 and Boris on this computer for close on 6 months now. So I wonder, Brian, if you did a separate install of Boris after you installed VS...?

I installed from the two discs one after another in quick succession - Boris seemed to work for a while but will not work now without putting that on my video.

perhaps I should try installing from the disc again

After i re-installed VS i received the request to provide an activation code, i had to re-install Boris, a repair did not work.

I wonder what caused it in the first place though - still we have a fairly easy solution so I've learnt something else now.

I know the installs have to be in order, VS first then Boris, maybe the service patches upset the activation codes.? Don’t Know

Hi Guys
My problem is not trying to use the key framer filters inside VSX5 (have not tried to do as yet) but launching the Boris Key framer app program separately as appears you are able to do.

After installing the plugin there is a separate folder in the start menu in all programs location the Boris key framer plugin app is not created in the Corel folders VS5X locations folder and it appears that the Boris Key framer can be launched as a separate application to edit titles then save as or export so I believe should able then import into VSX5 (have not tried to do this yet) have just played around with it to get used to it and the next step was to go on line and follow their guide to gauge its usefulness.

When you launch VS X5 Corel Guide window does not show the Boris Graffiti plugin already installed but listed for US $69.00 price instead of the normal $299 so the plugin is a cut down version of the full blown program which costs US $299.

Does anybody know if the Boris Graffiti plugin listed is the same one that is part of the Ultimate versions bonuses or is this for the newer V6 of the Boris Graffiti plugin for VS?

Have used VS since Ulead days Ulead gave 100% better tech support than Corel (you weren't asked for a payment to get premium support like Corel do) and love the program and adding plugins to improve on VS final outcome can be useful some times. That is why i believe is the benefit of spending the extra $10 purchasing the Ultimate versions of Corels products is worth it if they work correctly with the Corel product.

Hopefully one day Corel will see sense produce a 64bit version (as a lot of people want to see happen) like Cyberlink have which I also have as part my toolbox.

Was just trying to find out if anybody else has this problem when trying to launch the app as I do or is just a bug using this app with Windows 7?

I am not at all sure the the Boris Graffiti plug-in supplied with VideoStudio is supposed to run as a stand alone programme - just because it has separate folders in the Program files doesn't mean it can be used outside videoStudio.

If you look here :- http://apps.corel.com/ap/2011_ENP/au_learnhow_Boris.htm there are some tutorials on creating titles using Boris and they seem to start off by opening VideoStudio and dragging the icon from the FX library down into the timeline.


Incidentally for people interested in having ready made title effects there are a couple of free downloads on the above link as well.

I installed upgrade from X4 Pro to X5 Ultimate. I see the Boris Icon in my filters and when I apply it to a video and then go to custmoize Graffiti launches but freezes and will not allow me to make any changes. I'm forced to go to task manager and quit the program. I also noticed after installing Borris that it created a separate folder in my start menu and allows the program to launch as a stand alone and seems to work.

I've also been a long time Ulead.....and not Corel Video studio user and have never had any success with Boris Graffiti in this or previous versions.
