I have a problem, I am getting error 1935 when installing Videostudio Pro X5 on Vista. I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable Package but this had no effect.
I already had an older version of Ulead Videostudio installed. In case I wanted to restore the old version of Videostudio,I renamed the folder "Ulead systems" in 'Program Files/Common Files' to 'old Ulead systems'. The Pro X5 installer ran OK. It may be there is some sort of conflict between the new installation and installed files of previous versions?

Re: Cannot install VideoStudio Pro X5
Wiser heads than I will surely answer you but do you have the older version of VideoStudio on disk?
If so you could scrap the older version and try and load the new into a clean computer. There is, I think, a set of instructions in the Corel site for removing the older version of VS. If that does not work you can reload the older version as a temporary measure.
I had to reload VSx5 and, when I saw the instruction set, I took my PC to my dealer and let him do it. You had to work in the registery and my dealer had banned me from touching it!!
On a recent post, loading Boris caused a problem when there was an older version already on the PC.
On a personal note. I always pay a little extra for the disks rather than a download. Two reasons:- First we are very rural so my Internet speed is just rubbish. (It took 8 hours to download Pinnacle Studio 15 and then it was faulty) Second there is often a "repair" facility available and just by re-running the disks I can repair the software.
I hope you sort it out. I moved from Studio to VSx5 after a major problem with PS15. My dealer (desperate to get me off his doorstep) suggested Corel VideoStudio as a better option. It was one of his better ideas!!

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Re: Cannot install VideoStudio Pro X5
Hi
I have not heard of re-naming the folder within the Common folder.
I would think that would affect the existing installation.
By the way what older version do you have?
Some things to try…
From Knowledge Base search
Manually Removing Corel VideoStudio Pro X5
How to remove Temp files from Windows to resolve multiple software and system issues
Some users have found that by creating a new user profile they were able to install. Then the new account could be removed.
How to create a new windows user profile
If you have the program on disc, try copying the entire contents to your PC and running from there

Re: Cannot install VideoStudio Pro X5
I had error 1835 and then error 1935 while trying to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 software needed to complete the install of Corel VideoStudio Pro X6. I eventually found the following explanation by a person named MarkDS_958. It fixed my problem:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/wind ... 1832104041
Here is the text from that link by MarkDS_958:
I had this issue and all the steps described in this and other internet posts led me to a dead end of errors.
However, I then discovered that somehow almost all my services had gotten reset to "disabled". This was causing my original problems (network connectivity among them) and this problems.
Changing the services settings fixed my problems
To get to services type services in the search programs box on the start menu, then right click to run it as administrator.

Re: Cannot install VideoStudio Pro X5
Thanks for pointing that out -- hopefully it will help others in the same situation.
FYI, Services can also be found by starting Task Manager. That will probably be a more direct route for people trying to install on computers running Windows 8/8.1...
