No sound from split audio

Post by mmafan23 »

I'm using Corel Video Studio Pro x4 to make a promotional video for an upcoming event, and I used the split audio function to, surprise, separate the audio. Here's the problem: It has no sound. When I play it as a clip, it works fine. But if I play the project as a whole or add any kind of filter to it, it is mute. I've tried saving the project and opening it in a media player, still nothing. My music track and video track play fine, but the split audio does not.

Any help?

what was the reason you split the sound - what were you trying to achieve by doing that.

then things seem to be working backwards - when you play the video in 'CLIP' mode there should be no sound - but when you pay in PROJECT mode you should still have sound - are you sure it is as you describe.

when you say you saved it and tried to play in media player - what did you save it as - and what did you try to play in a media player - when you split the sound it should appear in narration audio track - you say you can play your music track - can you not play the audio from the video which is now in an audio track.

Sorry, I should have been more specific. By clip I mean the split audio track. When I play that as a clip, it works, but when I play the project I get no audio from the split track. The audio from the video is also gone.

And I saved it as a WMV, it's what I save all my videos as.

I have the exact same problem. No sound when I play the project. Did you find a fix?

Turn on the "Sound Mixer" function to see if there is a waveform in the split audio clip. The Sound Mixer is the waveform icon under the edit window... if you hover your cursor over it, it says "Sound Mixer."

Assuming the clip has a waveform, can you play the project in Sound Mixer mode and hear the audio? Can you drag the audio to a different track and hear it there? (VideoStudio has two audio tracks by default but lets you add more.) If your music track plays, what happens if you swap the music and main sound tracks? Just curious...

just also check that you have not accidentally disabled the music track.

at the left hand end of each track is an icon (NOT the ripple editing ones) - a film reel, a 'T' , a microphone etc. - hover your mouse cursor over them and a mouse tip will say 'disable' or 'enable' they should all say disable but if the music track shows 'enable' then click on it. If it is disabled then it would function as you describe.

The problem of .avi-files - Loss sound in VSX4 is a problem of VS X4. The problem is solved in VS X5. So I had to buy X5, too. Great marketing
