Advice on prior version removal before or after X5 install

Post by hjed207 »

Hello
Although I noticed instructions for x3 and x4 removal, I was still a little hesitant about the x3 removal, and now that I have X5 to install, I don't want three versions of the program, as much as I like it.
Some background: Windows XP Sp3 system.
Had X3, and then bought upgrade for X4. When X4 installed, it left X3 in place except for the file viewer. I had expected that the X4 would install over the X3, not parallel.
So, I first noticed that my X4 was missing several plugins. Some of these plugins I had installed in X3 as part of the Ultimate package, and a couple from other sources (tinti, for example). I found I could get these plugins to work in X4 by just adding the directories in X3 to the plugin paths in preferences.
I did this because I was not sure if I went and did an uninstall for X3, that it would take the plugins with it.
Just now purchased the X5 ultimate upgrade (FINALLY, I have the most recent version!), BUT, have not installed yet because I assume it will make an X5 directory and install, and then I will have x3, x4, and x5.
So, should I first run the add/remove for X4 (which is advertised to remove x4 completely), then use the download tool to remove X3? , THEN install X5, or install X5 and remove X3 and X4; do they share any data files that will get removed? I don't want to lose the project creator.
If I have "bonus" filters and plugins obtained from x3 and x4 can I re-install them to work with X5?

Thanks in advance.

It's best to keep at least one version back of the program, so that you'll have a backup, just incase PSP X5 acts a little crazy. Just incase you want to remove both the PSP X3 and X4, then you can follow the steps below.

To manually remove PSP X4 - http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... hop-Pro-X4

PSP X3 - http://corel.force.com/index/articles/e ... oto-Pro-X3
