Burning Problem with Corel PROX4

Post by yertizagain »

Hi Guys
I am having difficulty in burning my Canadian Holiday DVD to Bluray. Its Running Time is Approx 53 Mins
I have 'Created a video File' using the Bluray option.
I have then proceeded to 'Create a Disc', in Blue-ray.
On reaching the 'Burn' screen I input all the neccessary information.
The problem is, that it gets part-way through the burning process and then I get an ERROR MESSAGE
'Unspecified Error'.
When I retrieve the disc from the Bluray Burner, it appears to have something burnt on it, because part of burning area of the disc has gone 'black', indicating that there is information on there.
From this point, I have tried playing the Disc on a Bluray player, just to see if anything has been 'Burnt On', but it refuses to play it, saying that it is not 'Compatible.

The Bluray disc that I am using is a Sony BD-R

Thanks

I have 'Created a video File' using the Bluray option.
I have then proceeded to 'Create a Disc', in Blue-ray.
First, after you created the new Blu-Ray file, did you go immediately to Create Disc. If so, when the burning module opened, was there already a file in the burning timeline? If that was the case, then you need to delete whatever was in the burning timeline and instead use the Add Media button in the top left to manually select your new Blu-Ray video clip. What was in the timeline was in fact the "project" clip (***.vsp) and that in turn means that a further conversion of the project to a new video clip would take place in the burning module which is what you want to avoid since the burning process is complicated enough, especially with Blu-Ray.

Another way of achieving this is, after you have created the new video file, then go to File > New Project. You don't have to give it a name. All you want is the clean timeline that comes with a new project. Then when you select Create Disc, the burning timeline should be empty when you open it, and you then select Add Media as above.

The other thing you might want to try is, on the final page of the burning module, un-tick the Create Disc box and tick instead 'Create Blu-Ray Folders". This will create a BDMV folder, and all the necessary sub-folders, exactly the same as on a finished Blu-Ray disc. You can then play it in a Blu-Ray software player to see if everything works, and thus save creating another coaster. And if you are happy, you can use a program like Nero or the freeware ImgBurn to burn the Folder to an actual disc.

Hi Ken
Thanks for your advice regarding the burning problem with 'BLURAY'.
I did what you said, and cleared the 'Timeline'.
Burning was still a problem, as the 'Error Messge' still came up.
But I think that I solved it , by using the 'Internet Explorer' burner tool.

A drop down box appears when you place the 'Bluray' disc into the Bluray Burner drive.
you then have a choice of either using 'Corel PROx4' software, 'Roxio' or 'Internet Explorer' burner.
I chose the 'internet Explorer', and by following the Instructions, was able to burn the disc in about 11minutes.
I have played the disc back via a bluray player, and it seems to be perfect.

Thanks again for your help

From your description it seems all you have created is a data disc containing the video file you created earlier. As far as I know IE cannot create a true BlueRay disc. What folders/files are on the disc you burned?
