Drawing any object over a video clip
Hi,
Is it possible to draw an arrow or a circle or whatever, on a video clip? Example: I draw a circle around the head of a moving person for the next 15 seconds. I use VPpro X5 ultimate.
Thank you very much. Have a good day.

Re: Drawing any object over a video clip
Since you also have VS X5 Ultimate, you should be able to download and install the ProDAD FX tools (without charge), like I did.
That FX tool "may" accomplish what you want because it allows you to set a path for an object that animates it's movements along the path(s) which you create. However, you want a circle (a transparent circle), and so far I have found no way to create my own transparent tif images (which the RotoTool uses). Actual Roto-Scoping would be a wonderful asset built into Video Studio, but it hasn't been included (so far).

Hi LHamel
Video studio provide some samples.
Click the Flower looking icon (graphics) to the right of the preview screen, this opens the Colour library.
The down-arrow will allow you to select Objects, many are PNG images.
Frames are also available again PNG types
Drag these clips to the overlay track

"Tools >> Painting Creator" will allow you to draw freehand arrows or circles on videos

Re: Drawing any object over a video clip
Hello,
Thank you for your answers. But it does not respond to what I want to do.
Ok, an another example: I filmed a woman walking (from left to right on the screen). It has an insect on his left shoulder. I draw an arrow showing the insect but, the arrow must be able to follow the insect along the sequence.
RotoPenEffect and other tools work very well on a still image. But I do not know how on a video.
Thanks again.
Luc

Hi
Luc
Use FX Picture - in - Picture filter to track the motion.
A little tricky to set up.
I have attached a project file using the library clips, you should be able to open this using X5
Play the entire clip and watch the yellow blob follow the cloud.
Double click the overlay clip to open the Options panel, from the Attributes tab choose to customise the settings.
Tip
To copy one key frame to another use your keyboard short cut keys ctrl+C and ctrl+V

Hey, lata...
I downloaded your vsp, but there are no files included in the zip file. Therefore, the vsp can't play anything (in X5). Where are the files?

Re: Drawing any object over a video clip
The other files should be on your computer in amongst the VideoStudio files but - - Trevor has not noticed you have 64 bit computer running Windows 7 - the path to the files is not correct for that
also Trevor one link calls for X4 the other for X5 so unless Old_Friend has X4 as well it cannot work.
Hang on Old_Friend we'll put it right.

Re: Drawing any object over a video clip
Hi Brian
Very strange that the re-link looked for X4, that is a simular problem i am having with the LapTop
The vsp was made with X5 using the Plane wing video + a yellow looking clip from the objects
Any how try this made on the 64bit laptop.
Now i will get back to my own pc and download your file

Re: Drawing any object over a video clip
Thanks Brian for the sample. After watching it and fiddling with the many 'dials' available on the properties screen (which I barely understand), I now have about a million more things to try. Your sample has given me many ideas to experiment with. That's great!
BTW, when I loaded your vsp, it (VS Pro X5) did not find the required files automatically. I had to hunt for them manually on my HDD. I guess I was thinking that VS would be programmed to find the path to those files by itself, since those files come with VS and are installed by default into default paths/folders. No biggie; I downloaded and watched both your file and the one by lata. I have sooo much more to learn. Thanks for providing them. I'm a visual person, so "seeing" something (generally) registers in my brain much easier than reading.
