Selection Tool Problem ?

Hello in using the selection tool that encompasses the part of the photo with a selection doted box ,it takes several attempts for it to work. It stops intermediately before i lift my finger off the button ? is this a bug or am i doing something wrong ? I am useing the newest Paintshop Pro x5 W/Win 7. Thanks John

Jspro did you select freehand as your selection type or the problem happens no matter what setting you select? AFAIK, the selection tool will just close the selection if you release your finger from the mouse button.

Also where you able to use the selection tool before or this has been happening since you install PSP X5?

The selection box is the 1 I'm havin problems with not the free hand. Haven't used it that much to know if it's been doing it all along, but it's not all the time just now and then it's somewhat annoying how to use but when it works it's pretty good. I'm assuming that I'm probably the only 1 having this problem or have you heard of this before? Thanks for your help John

To your question about lifting my finger of the button of the mouse. When I start my selection I put the crosshairs over the selected part push down on the mouse button and as I'm pulling down the selected box it stops before I left my finger up thus making me have to start all over again sometimes it takes 3 or 4 attemps before I can get the part selected in the dotted box

Just to be sure, your mouse isn't showing signs of this off and on behavior anywhere else correct? Just want to make sure because a faulty mouse button could be to blame. If this is a bug with PSP it's not a common one so best to double check.
