Hello folks!
Hey, I cannot figure out how to turn off the "add automatic transition" function. I am using VSx4. I can go to Settings>Preferences> and hit the Edit tab, and I make SURE that the "automatically add transition effect" box is NOT checked, click OK but there is still a transition that gets added when two clips are placed next to each other. I turned on the function to check it out, and now I want to get rid of it, and can't find out how to get it to go away!
Please advise. Thanks!

Re: How to turn off automatic transitions?
You have disabled the "add transitions automatically" but a transitions is still added whenever you add a photo or video on the timeline. Is that correct?
Or, do you simply want to remove the transitions that were added automatically? In this case just switch to the Storyline viewselect a transitions and delete the transition.

If the two clips overlap even slightly, a cross fade is added.

So, if I am to understand, a transition of one type or another is always added if there is any overlap at all, and you can't turn that off?

Well, you can turn it off by not overlapping any clips...

Yes, by overlapping clips, you are telling VideoStudio to add a transition. If you do not want a transition, then do not overlap clips.Mark Swanson wrote:So, if I am to understand, a transition of one type or another is always added if there is any overlap at all, and you can't turn that off?
I recently realized that, by default, VideoStudio is set to use a random transition effect if you overlap files. I got into the preferences and set it so that it will always do a crossfade, which works great for the editing I do. Now I just overlap clips by whatever amount I choose, and it automatically does a nice smooth crossfade.

Re: How to turn off automatic transitions?
Thanks Bob. I had forgotten about the random default as I too first set Crossfade as my preferred transition. I rarely use anything else and when I do it is for a particular effect for that specific video clip e.g. the opening star which introduces a clip focused initially on one of the remaining stars on a Kremlin tower.
