FWIW, I just bought and installed X5 yesterday. It has the same number and says no updates currently available too.

Yes, if you install Sp1, the build number of your PSP x5 should be 15.1.0.10

Since I have that version number and have not separately installed SP1, and moreover only bought the program yesterday, I am assuming that the current download version has already had SP1 integrated into it.

I think, as Ken said, SP1 is included in the download. When I was having problems with my initial install, I downloaded SP1. When I tried to install it the exe told me that my program was already current (or something to that effect.)

Thanks folks.
X5 is a BIG change over X3. Work flow is smoother, program not as qwerky, Loads faster on my machine. Looks like a good upgrade. I only used X3 for some of it's features.I used Photo Paint X4 for most editing. I'm going to swap that around and see how well X5 can work out. Looks promising.

X5 is really flakey. I can get it to freeze every single time just by opening two images in the editor and clicking the image tabs to switch between the images. I've uninstalled / reinstalled / applied SP1 and even tried two different hotfixes that support has made available, and nothing will fix the issue for me.

I have an open support call with Corel (27 days and counting), but it takes a week between replies from them, and every single reply I've had is basically more delaying tactics with stupid suggestions like "clear out your windows temp folder" & "disable all non-microsoft background processes". I explained in detail that I even went through a total Windows refresh, and installed from scratch, with PSP X5 the first and only app I'd installed (and it still had issues) and their reply was: "Since operating system is reinstalled, Temp files are also regenerated. So I hope you tried recent suggestion such as purging of Temp files and applying the patch and Oct. 31 hotfix." buying them another week.

They really shouldn't be selling the product in it's current state - in my opinion it is not in merchantable quality. I'd hate to see the source code for this product, I bet it's a spaghetti mess of old legacy code, that's been passed down through it's 15 versions. X5 has only been released for about 10 weeks, and it's already had a service pack and two hotfixes - that doesn't instill any confidence in the product at all.

You may do better with your own thread. BTW, after the install, X5 has been super solid for me. I had 24 open images in it, doing a bit of tweaking and adding a border.

X5 working well here on XP and Windows 7.
I will stay away from Windows8 regarding it as similar to Vista in being a new unproven system with bugs to work out. So I went from XP to Windows 7 and eventually will go to Windows 9 when it is functional.
Before blaming PSP X5 (which seems to work well for many (most) users ) perhaps one should look at reverting back to Windows 7 until windows 8 is fixed.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Haven't crashed it yet. I've had 6 panels open in edit and was able to switch between all without problems. So far the only thing that doesn't work is a sharpening plugin, but then again it didn't work in X3 either. Plugin's not compatible with the Layers portion of PSP. Found a work around by using HSL split rather than layers and it works fine.

I'm starting to believe that there are Computer configurations, OS, Drivers, Software....... that make some programs 'Incompatible' with the current system, such as the problems that Adrianw is having. I've seen similar posts on different Forums regarding different software. Loose code or something...............

Oh, spoken like someone who has never used Windows 8! Windows 8 doesn't need fixing, there's nothing wrong with it. The desktop is basically the same as Windows 7 anyway (except for all the stuff that is better than 7 - like task manager, explorer, file copy/move, and yes even the start menu is better).

I don't think blaming Windows 8 is the correct thing to do, considering that if you go to Corel's PSP X5 page, you'll see a "Windows 8 Compatible" logo. And, if you go to the Windows 8 Store, you'll find a bunch of Corel products, including X5. So as far as Corel are concerned their products should be working fine on Windows 8.

The only program I'm having any problems with is X5. And the whole point I purchased X5 (well I purchased X4 and then got a really good deal to upgrade to X5 as it was released only a few weeks later), was that it was compatible with Windows 8.

Suggesting downgrading back to 7, just because one program doesn't work properly is a little extreme. I wouldn't want to go back to 7, when 8 is so much better.

Ah, well that explains it...... don't read threads about programs/operating systems I don't have. Just seemed a bit off the OP, so I thought you'd get better help elsewhere. Good luck with getting X5 to work on 8.
