Stupid Corel ad at the top of this forum

Post by Old_Friend »

Reference: The stupid Corel "ad" at the top of this forum. It is NOT a link to a "Video Tutorial" on using Roto Pen. It is merely a link to Corel trying to sell more products, and has nothing to do with the banner link subject! If they can't even get a simple banner ad done correctly, it's no wonder there are so many unresolved issues with X5.

That may be the case, and I would have to agree that it is misleading. But this *is* a Corel web board, even if run by users. And the servers for it are maintained by Corel. Frankly, I am surprised they don't have more overt advertising on it, and even this one -- and its predecessors -- only appeared a few months ago.

Me -- I just ignore it...

I don't know what you are complaining about but I got a 9 minute tutorial about RotoPen. In fact you can play all sorts of tutorials (12 of them) from that "banner", if you can navigate that simple banner.

Who pays the piper calls the tune!!
If Corel are good enough to run a forum to let all us users moan about their products, I applaud them. And they have a picture of our dear queen on the RotoPen video.
Seriously when a comment comes up about a bit of VSX5, it is useful to have a tutorial up there. VideoStudio has more people writing tutorials covering its plus points than any other software I have come across. As a new user, I find these tutorials quite useful
I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

Yes it is!

Well same as canuck, I also was able to click the screen and play the video tutorial, 9 minutes, so I am not sure where "stupid" comes into it?

Right click and I was able to copy the web address

The banner ad will redirect you to the RotoPen Effect tutorial from the Corel Discovery Center. I'm 100% sure that it will, since I'm the one who set that up. If the link directs you to other web site other than this link - http://www.corel.com/corel/pages/index. ... en_DMForum. If its not redirecting you to the correct site, can you paste here where it's leading you. So that I can at least check what's the problem.

Abiel, thanks for providing that link. I don't know what happened the other day when I tried using the banner as a link. That link did take me to the page where multiple tutorial options were available, but when I clicked on the one name "Roto Pen" it did not open a video. I tried several times before posting my topic here. Also, I was expecting an "automatic launch" of the banner's subject video (Roto Pen), instead of having to choose it again from a list of other video tutorials.

When using your link, I still had to select Roto Pen from all the other available ones, but at least, this time the video tutorial played. Thanks!

I noticed that the 'custom' symbols being used were all "tif" images. Is that format the only one which can be used? Also, does anyone know if there are more downloadable tifs which are sized appropriately for Video Studio's use?

Thanks, Abiel!

Hi

Clicking the banner shows a window with a preview screen, to the bottom are two navigation arrows allowing you to select, if you click the preview screen it will play the selected YouTube tutorial
