Can VSX5 work with an Intel Pentium B960 Processor?

Post by yvetteal »

Hi,

I am a new VSX5 user. I installed the software last night, and today when I tried uploading a picture (PNG) to the timeline, I got the following error message: "These files cannot be added to this project. These files may be of unknown file format. The computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected." I am able to add a video to my timeline. The picture was a screen shot from an ipad I took, so I doubt it is copyright protected.

When it comes to computer parts, and things of that nature, I don't necessarily know too much. Upon research my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5512 (low end computer, but it was all I could afford earlier this year) has an Intel Pentium B960 processor. Is that why I'm getting that error? And, is there anyway to be able to use this software in the mean time until I upgrade to a desktop computer in a month or two?

I updated the Video Studio Prox5 software with the Service Pack1.

This is what my system is running on:
Intel Pentium CPU B960 2.2GHZ processor
RAM: 4.0GB
64-bit operating system

If I upgrade my RAM, will that help? Is there a basic solution to my problem? Like I said, I am new to the software. I don't know if I have left anything out, but I would appreciate any help I can get. I can't wait to use this software.

Thanks in advance,
Yvette

Normally, VS can accept PNG files without problems. So I am not sure what is going on.

Do you have a graphics program of some sort on the computer? Even Windows Paint will do. (I just tried it to make sure and it accepted a png and copied it to jpeg.) If so, open the PNG photo in it and save it as a new .jpg file. Then try inserting that into VS.

Thank you for the quick response, Ken. I really appreciate it. I just tried inserting a JPEG and it gave me the same error message. I'm not sure what the problem is. I'm hoping that if I can insert a video into VS that it's not necessarily a problem with my processor or memory.

Does the error appears on all the photos and videos that you are importing to VideoStudio X5? Can you upload the jpeg that's giving you the error, so that we can test it on the VS X5 that's installed on our computers.

Hi Abiel,I do not have a problem with music tracks or videos. It is only with photos. I can insert sample videos and music, and the same goes for audio. And, I can insert my own. But, when it comes to photos, I can't upload anything. With my own pictures, it gives me the error I mentioned above, and with the sample photos that come included in the software, it says that the file does not exist. It's really any and all pictures that are a problem. Should I uninstall and reinstall the software?

Hi Yvette

I have a similar problem running Video Studio on my laptop.
In addition the library image/photo samples also give an error requesting a re-link.
Can you select the images from the library, try a few.
If you receive a re-link request can you take note of the file location showing in the re-link window, that will be the file name---it may show for X4?

The problem seems to be associated with some 64 bit systems.

Can you try running the program in XP Compatibility mode.
From your desktop, Right click the VS X5 icon, choose properties—Compatibility tab—select the XP option.

There are a few users (2 or 3) having this problem, so it may not be your problem, but worth a try?
