How can I render at 1920x1080 instead of 1440x1080?

Post by serotono »

After lots of experimenting, I have finally found that Corel Video Studio Pro X4 is capable of rendering the 1080i 50i AVCHD videos off my Sony CX-190E Camcorder, without any motion blur.

All other softwares failed to remove the motion blur. Only this software could render the video, smoothly at 25 FPS (50 FPS isn't supported by my Samsung HDTV so I render at 25FPS)

So I was trying out VS Pro x4 before buying. But the only problem that keeps me away from buying the product is, Corel VS Pro X4 renders the AVCHD (1080i-50i) source files to HDV 1080i -50i (.mpg) files at 1440x1080, which plays vertically elongated (with two black borders on the sides) on my HDTV.

How can I make it render at 1920x1080?

If I select any other profile like WMV (and manually configure the profile at render at 1920x1080), motion blurring is present and noticeable. Only the .mpg HDV 1080i-50i are completely smooth and free from any motion blurring.

How can I make it render HDV 1080i-50i at 1920x1080, instead of 1440x1080?

Please help. Thank you! :)

I am a little puzzled as to why you are rendering from AVCHD to HDV. The latter is a completely separate format, and is a high definition mpeg-2 with fixed frame size of 1440 x 1080 -- though that is what they call 'anamorphic' and display full screen as though they were 1920 x 1080. So I am not sure why your Samsung cannot play them that way.

But the Samsung should in any case be able to play AVCHD in its original format. AVCHD is of course high definition mpeg-4 rendered with the h.264 codec. I have a Samsung 46 inch HDTV and it can play both HDV in proper size format and AVCHD, so I can't imagine why yours should be having any trouble.

But unless there is a special reason you are going from AVCHD to an output of HDV, I would finish you editing and select Share > Create Video File > AVCHD and select one of the options with 1920 x 1080. Or if for some reason or other you really want to convert it from mpeg-4 to mpeg-2, then select Share > Create Video File > Blu-Ray, which also offers the 1920 x 1080 option.

Note that X4 is no longer the current version of VS available, which is now X5.

Thank you very much for your prompt reply, Ken. :)

Actually, my Samsung HDTV doesn't detect .mts and .m2ts files. So I wanted to convert them to something in the other recognizable formats. It also doesn't play Anamorphic and it elongates. (But my computer can play anamorphic in correct aspect ratio.).

Brother, I've tried Blu Ray 1920x1080 just now. But I'm afraid that the motion blur is still noticeable.

Only that .mpg of the HDV profile is completely free from any blurring.

Is it possible to create 1920x1080 HDV 50i in VS Pro 5? Then I'll download the trial and try out. :)

Sir,

I have an update. After fiddling around with some advanced settings, I got my HDTV to display the anamorphic resolution correctly! Thank you very much for your support! Thanks a lot! :)
