Thanks Brian.

Corel store has it's own black Friday deals for the US. I just picked up Paintshop Pro X5 Ultimate upgrade for $29.99.

Not to go too far off topic... but they call it "Black Friday" in the UK, too? Of course, here in the US, it is always the day after Thanksgiving, and Thanksgiving is always the 4th Thursday in November.

It's funny to think that Black Friday is a common international day of shopping insanity... I figured it was just a US phenomenon.

Since it's currently Tuesday -- well at least down here in the Antipodes! -- why do they call it Friday of any colour???

And sadly the local Corel website doesn't have the offer. Their so-called 'special offer' is only for PSP X5 vanilla version, and it's NZ$79.99 for the upgrade ($129 for the full version)! (That's around US$65 at the current exchange rate.) On the US site, it's shown as being $39.99 for the Ultimate version... VS X5 is on offer for a similar price...

The Friday after Thanksgiving (Nov. 23, this year) is a monster shopping day. Legend has it that it's called "Black Friday" because the massive amount of commerce puts retailers "in the black" for the year... i.e., they are now showing a profit for the year. More likely is that it is a crowded and exhausting shopping experience, particularly since retailers now stoke the insanity fires with outrageous deals that you can only get if you show up at 6AM on Friday. (Things like 32-inch (80cm) LCD TVs for US$149 and Bluray players for US$38.) Imagine you could buy Corel VS x5 for $10... but you have to be there by 6AM. The sheer madness of it has led to the name "Black Friday," which the news media loves.

As "Black Friday" is not enough there is now also "Cybermonday" which is the first monday after "Black Friday" and is "mainly" for on-line shopping deals.

We here in Canada have just started with the "Black Friday" idiocy since 2010 or so especiall sinc the US and Canadian Dollar reached parity a few years ago.. Our main "madness" shopping day is/was "Boxing Day", Dec 26

Black Friday is very new in the UK and not many stores take notice of it - One or two online places started doing it last year and so far this year I have only seen that Corel offer on Amazon, one or two other online stores may make a few offers but we are unlikely to see many offers in the High Street.

Thanksgiving has absolutely no meaning in the UK - many UK residents don't even know when it is - it is just a normal working day here - so the day after has even less meaning. Like canuck Boxing Day (day after Christmas day) was traditionally the start of the sale season - although recently we seem to have perpetual sales.

Okay, I couldn't resist... I took my guitar to an open mike last night and played a Thanksgiving-related song. This is absolutely related to VideoStudio, since I edited it on VideoStudio. Here it is:

I wish I needed more cheap electronic crap, since Friday will be the time to get it. However, I have a Thanksgiving dinner with family on Thursday, another with friends on Friday (where I'm expected to bring a guitar and sing for my supper!), then I jump in a car and drive to Georgia to help the same friend pick up some parts for the airplane he's building. And the seasonal activity doesn't stop there... it's a (delightful) curse!

FANTASTIC Bob - I really enjoyed that.

Well recorded and obviously edited in VideoStudio and connected with Thanksgiving/Black Friday - I think your still on topic.
