Hi:
I am burning DVDs from an hour long project file in ProX5, of a two act opera. Act I burned fine, but Act II which is a separate project comes out on the DVD with the audio ahead of the video. I am making coasters, have quite a collection. Anyone know why? I've never had this problem before with burning DVDs. I have burn speed set to 16x, not maximum. In the past I normally use the project rendered to a movie for the DVD burn, but with editing changes I keep making, it is faster to just burn directly from the project.
I am not using a separate audio file. The audio is embedded in the video.
When I play the project and not the DVD, the audio and video are fine.
Thanks for any help.
Candy

Re: ProX5 DVD burn from project, audio ahead of video
Hi Candy
Creating Coasters or not
I create Iso files (Disc Image) of my project rather than burning the disc, I then play the Iso using VLC Media Player, this allows me to identify any problems.
If good use Tools -- Burn from Disc Image, this will save making those coasters, the iso file is available for burning again for further copies.
The overall time taken to do this will be approximately the same, the full process is simply split into two sections.
Ok
If you are having problems with burning the disc you should render the project first to Mpeg2 DVD file. If there are audio problems with this file, then there is a problem with the project and or clips used.
Try rendering again with Smart Render disabled, (not selected)
The video clips used, are they the same types for both projects?
If scene one is ok and scene two giving problems, then what have you done differently to the second project?
Can you view the video files properties?
When you do Share Create disc--DVD, is the timeline empty?
This opens the burner module,
From the first window it is here that you Add Project Files VSP, and or Video Files.
The burning speed (x16) should have nothing to do with audio sync, as this is set prior to burning during Convert Title process, we do however advise to reduce the speed where possible.

Re: ProX5 DVD burn from project, audio ahead of video
Hi Trevor:
RE: "I create Iso files (Disc Image) of my project rather than burning the disc, I then play the Iso using VLC Media Player, this allows me to identify any problems."
Is creating an ISO file one of the things you can do in "share"?
Is the VLC Media Player something you have to buy?
So while waiting to figure this out I went ahead and rendered the project to a movie file using "set by project" for the type and then did a burn and the audio and video are in sync. I burned it at maximum speed and it plays ok, but I think for the next ones I'll burn them at 16x due to on a previous project the DVDs skipped when burned at maximum speed.
So no more coasters for this project.
Thanks so much for getting back to me so soon, appreciate your help as always.

Re: ProX5 DVD burn from project, audio ahead of video
Hi Candy
The VLC player can be found here
http://www.videolan.org/
This player seems to play most types of video, and indeed playes Iso files without problem. The iso file contains everything that the disc has.
So all menus are there just like playing the disc.
The player is free, some installations may try tempting you to install other programs, toolbars and the like, simply deselect any offered and install VLC.
I have had no problems with this program.
And glad to hear you have burned a good disc.
