MP 3 files not playing in library but plays in project

Yes,
I just upgraded to Windows 8. All with Videostudio X5 is working fine, except MP3 files will not play in the Library. I get this strange hiss. If I drop the mp 3 file into the time line on any audio track and then play the project it plays fine. Wave files play fine. I did a uninstall and re-install of X5 to see If that would fix the problem. No luck.

Any help would be appreciated.

Some users have had a similar problem with various previous versions of VS. It seems VS does not like mp3 encoded with some codecs, and more specifically the LameMP3 codec. Our usual advice is to use a third party audio editor -- such as the freeware Audacity -- to convert the mp3 to .wav and use that instead.

Thanks for the feed back Ken! I appreciated it. But prior to the upgrade to Windows 8, I never had a problem with this X5 and MP 3 files. These same mp 3 files worked fine. I thought maybe it might have to do with Windows 8. I don't really see a lot reports of issues on the Boards with Windows 8. Have you seen any reports of audio files issues and windows 8 so far?

Sorry, but there haven't been many reports so far. But a couple of people have reported problems with running either X5 or X4 in Win 8. See http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 86#p258886 and also http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 14#p259214

So there seems clearly to be some conflict between VS and Win 8. Hopefully, if so, Corel will be working on an update patch.
