Hi canuck

I assume by “pseudo” you are referring to still cameras with video capabilities rather than a dedicated video cam. If so then Yes I totally agree.

I identified a few more duplicate frames
03-28 and 03-29
04-07 and 04-08
08-00 and 08-01

These only show when using Video Studio. Strange that you do not see these.
I did manage to convert to TS type using Super, I no longer see those duplicate frames.

I think it is the AVC compression that Video Studio is struggling with????

Trevor,
yes I mean digital cameras.

I noticed that both files are in the Flash Video format when I download them from youTube. Do you get the same?

Using digital cameras as `pseudo-camcorders` is a bad idea. People are having all sorts of problems especially when using the mov format in video editing programs.
I have 3 `pseudo-camcorders`, the FZ100 which doesn't use the mov rapper, is trouble free editing, and very good, the other 2 which use mov., have problems.

Therefore I think its the mov container, not the camera(s) that is causing the problem(s).

Hi canuck

i can only download the first sample and i get a Mov file.

I do not download fron YT, the link takes me to a Google page, the file menu has a Downlod option.

BugEye

It may be best if you upload these to 4Shared or simular, to be honest i dont think it will make any difference, except canuck/we will get the correct versions.

Trevor, you are right of course, I am downloading from GoogleDrive.

When I select the Quality Settings for the video I am offered 5 choices as show in the attached screenshot. I downloaded all and in none of them do I get a duplicate image problem.
Quality Settings.jpg
I have been using my DownloadManager to download the files which I can select individually for download. When I use the Google download, even though I can select any of the quality files, only one type is downloaded and it is always the HD I think.
I think I may be mis-interpreting the "quality settings". The may only apply to playing the video.

The quality settings are to match your internet connection for streaming video, the higher the quality the better connection you require, and better playback, This does not affect the downloaded file.
Some download managers may re-code the video, so the file you get is not the original.

Your Image

Top left of that image is the Video file name, immediately below is the menu File-Edit-View-help

I select File-download
I then get a warning The file exceeds the maximum size that we scan. Download anyway

I choose to “download anyway”

Connection to the google page and download had its problems, sometimes works but sometimes not.
Best to use 4Shared or similar

The properties I see for this video are the same as posted by Bug-Eye

I think the AVC Coding and the fact that Video Studio does not show an audio compression, indicates to me that Video Studio is having problems reading this type of file.
I can convert to MT type video and playback is ok, better.
Even refreshing the timelines was much faster.

Thanks Trevor I finally understand (I think) what is going on. My DownloadManager is not downloading the "original" uploaded file but the video being played. That means that it is no good using the manager for downloads of video from youTube ,etc if you want to get the original file.

I did download the file using the "google download". It has a file size of ~28MB, is that what you get?

Ok, I figured out how to download the file correctly using my Download manager and I get exactly the same file size as you.

The 2nd file has a size of 24.571MB.

I still do not see any duplicate frames (for xxx001.mov) using X5 at the times you listed. I have not checked the other mov file.

I used VideoRedo TV Suite H.264 to do a "quick stream fix" on both files. That resulted in files with MP4 file extensions. Those played back without duplicates in X5.

This might mean something to somebody: the video stream has only predictive frames between IDR frames according to VideoRedo. Also, the fields are upper field first according to Sony Vegas Pro 10.

Hi Bug-Eyed

Sorry for the delay in replying
I did download the sample from 4shared, this showed the same issues as the one downloaded from google.

As mentioned earlier I think you should contact Corel Support for there assistance.

I am surprised that Abeil has not viewed the samples?
After all he was the first to suggest you provide a sample.

HEY TREVOR, no sorry's needed.
I was waiting to see if Abeil was going to comment, and also to install and try X5.
X5 does the same thing as my X4 did.
How does one contact Corel Support for assistance ?

Finally figured out how to contact support, seemed to be buried,.. or maybe just me !!

It has gone to level 2, apparently because of the "complexity of the problem".

I will try keep this thread up to date.

Hi Bug-Eyed

I seem to have missed the post asking how to contact Corel Support.

At least you have managed to contact them, good luck
