I had a similar problem. My Canon HV20 with a FireWire connection would work but my new Panasonic HC-V700 with USB would not.
There are a number of ways to create animation without stop motion. One way is to fix the camera and record everything then, in the editor, use Multi Trim to remove the frames you don't want and collect the frames you do. For example, if you were animating a figure, record all the action which will include video of your hands moving the figure and then remove those frames leaving the frames of the figure in each new position.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not so sure.

using the capture feature of VS works best when connecting your camera using a FireWire connection.

Abiel -- Since the Canon 600 D is a digital still camera and doesn't have a Firewire port, that makes it rather difficult!

Re: Problem - canon 600 D with stop motion Corel
There seems to be a very blurred dividing line between still and video cameras. The Canon EOS 600D can be used to capture video.
To quote from the spec for Movie size:-
1920 x 1080 (29.97, 25, 23.976 fps)
1280 x 720 (59.94, 50 fps)
640 x 480 (30, 25 fps)
Video output (PAL/ NTSC) (integrated with USB terminal), HDMI mini output (HDMI-CEC compatible)
On my Panasonic HC-V700 I can get a live picture through the HDMI output but not the USB.
The IEEE1394 seeme to be limited to cameras with DV Tape recording such as my Canon HV20.
