How to create 1080p 25 fps mpeg4?
I have VS Pro X5. My footage is shot at 1920 x 1080p with 25 fps and I would like to produce mpeg4 video file with same parameters. I select custom settings, mpeg-4, H.264 high, frame size 1920 x 1080, but then fps is set to 30 and it is greyed out. Is this the limitation of VS? Is there any way to produce high quality HD with 25 fps?

Hi
Yes you are correct that the options are a little limited when trying to set Mpeg4 at 25.
To be honest I do not think there is any reason for this other than Video Studio does not allow this.
You can try the QuickTime option and compression as Mpeg4 Visual
Use the Custom option, or Make Movie Templates Manager to create your own template to
QuickTime Movie Files
24 bits, 1920 x 1080, 25 fps
Frame-based
MPEG 4 Visual
100% Quality, 1 Key Frame Rate
None, 8.000 KHz, 8 bits, Stereo
What are you using the new video for.
If You Tube or Vimeo try Share Upload to Web this will use 1280 x 720.

Thanks.
Yes, Vimeo will be one usage. 1280 x 720 could be more feasible on the net. Default bit rate 5000 kbs seemed to produce quite bad results (at least in this case), but 9000-10000 are acceptable.

Can't belive why would Adobe force such stupid limitations like this?lata wrote: Yes you are correct that the options are a little limited when trying to set Mpeg4 at 25.

Canon cameras record fullHD at 23,97 fps and forcing me to render movie at 30fps makes it unwatchable, full of stuttering due to missing frames.
Tried also with QTmovie, but transitions effect (fadde) do not exist there, at least are not rendered.
This makes VStudio useless!!!!

Re: How to create 1080p 25 fps mpeg4?
Hi Miki
A HD Video Camera would normally record to MT or Mpeg4 type files, what camera do you have?
What type of files are you using?
Does the software that comes with your video camera provide means of converting your video files, if so to what properties?
You mention 23.97fps, if you used 25 or 29 it would give you more scope in selecting a different formats? You do not say if you are NTSC or Pal.
If you are intending to burn a disc (bluray) then you would need MT type files?
Unfortunately there are hundreds of different types of camera and video formats, some codecs are tweaked by the camera manufacture making it difficult for video editors to keep up. Some of these formats may not comply with the industries standards, again the video editing software will not cover these types.
There is always however some properties that may be suitable but not exactly the same as the original. Without knowing the full properties of your original video its just speculation.
By the way what has Adobe got to do with it.

Re: How to create 1080p 25 fps mpeg4?
Yes, quite my typo, ment Corel instead of Adobe. Sorry.
I have Canon Powershot SX240HS. It records .MOV files at:
Format : AVC
Format/Info : Advanced Video Codec
Format profile : Baseline@L5.0
Format settings, CABAC : No
Format settings, ReFrames : 1 frame
Format settings, GOP : M=1, N=12
Codec ID : avc1
Codec ID/Info : Advanced Video Coding
Duration : 21s 980ms
Bit rate : 33.4 Mbps
Width : 1 920 pixels
Height : 1 080 pixels
Display aspect ratio : 16:9
Frame rate mode : Constant
Frame rate : 23.976 fps
Color space : YUV
Chroma subsampling : 4:2:0
Bit depth : 8 bits
Scan type : Progressive
I intend to create files that would reside on HDD, accessed by mediaplayer, so I don't think PAL/NTSC is relevant here? (I'm from Europe so my TV is PAL).
Bytheway, in the meantime I found out I could save as customized m2t format (aka blueray) where I can select this curious 23,97fps... Video looks quite good, must test it on my tv yet.
I own some previous version of Videostudio (when it was Ulead, befor fullHD format) and I am testing a 30day free version of current Videostudio to see if it fits my needs. I belive it's not limited in any other way than time period?

That's right -- though they may not provide the whole package of menu templates in order to reduce the size of the download...I belive it's not limited in any other way than time period?
