Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
The .ufo files are Video Studio (and Movie Factory)'s menu templates. The only program that can make ufo files is PhotoImpact. We have been trying for several years now -- without success -- to get Corel to add ufo as an output format to PaintShop Pro since PhotoImpact is another of old Ulead programs destined for scrapping.

Thanks Ken, I have just never run across them.... which is understandable since I have never used PhotoImpact.

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Hi Canuck,
With all due respect, at this point I will not be putting up a download of the .ISO file. If you remember correctly, I put up
some files for you before as per your request and you never commented on them at all, they have now been taken down.
What I would suggest is that you take the time to read my very last reply, and then you should be able to fully understand
what I was able to accomplish with the program that I am talking about. Then go and download the FREE TRIAL of the
program that I am telling everyone about in that reply.
It is very easy to understand and also really easy to make the Real Hollywood Style Menu's so that they work properly
on your final project on DVD.
Also "Canuck" open up your Corel program folder in your Program Files in Windows Explorer and check out the link
that I have provided below. There are many folders in that area that have .ufo files, and .ini files. That is where
you can find the .ufo files associated with the DVD Menu's.
Note To Ken Berry, as mentioned to Trevor in my last reply:
By the way Trevor, .ufo files can be opened with either note pad or word pad, you just have to remember to click
"Save", and never click "Save As". By clicking just "Save" after making changes, it will continue to save the .ufo file
as a .ufo file. If you click "Save As" you do not get the choice to save it as a .ufo file.
Some .ufo files can be found here:
"C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Content\Menu Template\16x9\Customize\Navigation Button".
Also in other places in the "C:\Program Files\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Content\Menu Template area's".

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
while it is true that you can open .ufo files in Notepad or Wordpad you CANNOT edit them there - what is the point of opening them in a text programme - they are image files - it would be like trying to edit a bitmap or jpeg with text only.
You can still buy PhotoImpact on the US site - version X5 is currently available for $29.99 - it works because I have it I downloaded it here in the UK from the American site. Why not download that and modify the template yourself.

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Hi Brian,
I have edited them as I mentioned before in word pad, and the edited changes stayed that way once I saved them. I changed
them while I was experimenting with the .ufo files. Lucky for me I had saved the original .ufo files, so that I could replace them
back into the folder when the experimenting I was doing did not work.
I would do the changes myself if I know exactly what .ufo files needed to be changed, so that the DVD Menu's worked just like
the program "MPEG Video Wizard DVD 5.0.1.105 (09/2012)" made by "Womble Multimedia, Inc." does.
Again, this program can be found (downloaded) at the companies website " http://www.womble.com/download/dvd5.exe ",
you can use a FREE trial full version for 30 days to check it out yourself. It is an amazing program and works just like it says
it should.
We are getting off the subject here, that is the feeling I am getting at the moment.
The subject and the whole purpose of this thread is to get the Corel Corporations program "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate"
to do what it says it does and that is. that you are able to make real professional looking Hollywood style DVD Menu's on your
final project DVD.
At this time "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate" does not do what it says it is supposed to do when making DVD menu's.
So the question is:
Who here or who out there has the knowledge and expertize to make this happen, who can come here and tell us exactly
what files need to be changed and what commands are necessary to put inside those files, to make this happen.
That is the subject, that is the question, now who has the answer. Who ever you are please step forward and solve this issue
for all of the people who bought the Corel program "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate" in good faith.
This is exactly what we should be concentrating on at the moment, not uploading .ISO files, what is a .ufo file, who can and
who can't open a .ufo file and edit it, then save it so it works.
Also for those that cannot wait for the answer, there is a temporary solution for now dealing with making DVD menu's, not
Blu-ray menu's. Just read my last reply on Page-#1 of this thread, and the temporary solution is there.
If you do not believe that what I am saying is true, then download the FREE TRIAL yourself and make your own real professional
looking Hollywood style DVD Menu on your final project DVD. There are no limitations on the FREE TRIAL version for 30 days.
It is the full program and you can experiment with it for FREE for 30 days.
Last but not least Brian, if you have the program that you say can edit the .ufo files. Then why don't you do what I did and try
figuring out which files need to be changed, and what commands are needed to make "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate"
make real professional looking Hollywood style DVD Menu's on your final project DVD.

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Hi
The problem I have is understanding exactly what you want the menu structure to do. Unfortunately saying Real Hollywood Style Menu's does not mean that much to me.
I can create a structure containing a title page having numerous links/titles.
Video studio allows me to use 8 links per page.
Each link can have a sub menu attached, this is the Chapter menu.
Each chapter menu can have 8 links per page.
Yep that is a bit limited.
I needed 12 links per page, that VS9 did provide but not the Corel versions.
I purchased Photo Impact to allow me to create my own 12 menu template.
The burner module does allow you to edit/customise the menu structure changing the look and style.
Navigation controls are a little limited and for me the greatest problem, however I can choose to play all to end, continue to play the disc for ever, choose to play a single title, I will check out the option to play a single chapter.
But I do agree the menu structure has been the same since time began, with the exception of adding Smart Scenes. The format has not been changed, yes Corel should address this by providing an integrated program to create edit menus.
I did install the trial version from Wobble, quite impressed, unfortunately I am having some issues with my pc, till those are fixed I cannot do any tests with any editors.
I will fix it even if I have to re-install the OP.
PS
you cannot edit UFO files using Word Pad, you can open the file but the program just does not read the content correctly, in the same way that you can open VSP project files. The only program that can edit UFO files is Photo Impact.

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Hi Trevor,
Please go and read my last reply on Page-#1 of this tread if you haven't already. I took the time to explain fully
what it was that I was able to accomplish.
The Corel Corporations program "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate" cannot write or read DVD sub-menu's properly,
Yes it can do chapters, however their program does not provide any control over those chapters.
It only provides a very small amount of control over the main menu titles, and that is it. If for example you have taken
two videos and joined them together as one .vsp file, with a chapter mark in the front of each video file, you can then
create a sub-menu called "Special Features" and it will create it.
However, the problem arrives when you play the first title video on the Main Menu. After it is finished playing it will
continue to play both of the "Special Features" right after it, the ones you made with the two videos and joined them
together as one .vsp file, with a chapter mark in the front of each video file. "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate"
see's the "Special Features" menu as a chapter menu, not as a true separate DVD sub-menu.
If you play the first "Special Feature" in the "Special Features" menu it will continue to play the second "Special Feature"
it will not return to the "Special Features" menu, like on a Real Professional (Commercial) Hollywood Style DVD Menu.
However, as I have mentioned before the program "MPEG Video Wizard DVD 5.0.1.105 (09/2012)" made by
"Womble Multimedia, Inc." does.
This program really does what the Corel Corporations program "Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate" should have been doing
from the very beginning, which of course it does not do.
"Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate" will play anything that is on the video line on the DVD, giving you no proper control when
you want to make Real Hollywood Style DVD Menu's.
To actually see what I am talking about Trevor, put one of your commercial Professional Real Hollywood Style DVD's into your
DVD player. Now, go through the menu's, from the Main Menu to the Chapters Menu, then all of the background Menu's or
"Special Features" Menu, and see how it reacts, that is how I want my DVD menu's to react. Just like a Real Professional
(Commercial) Hollywood Style DVD Menu works when you place it into your DVD player. I hope this explains exactly what I
am looking for Trevor.
As a side note:
I have been in constant contact with The Corel Corporation trying to get answers or get them to fix this issue for around
three months now. With the end result being absolutely nothing from the company, because of this I decided to start looking
for another DVD Authoring program that would make the Real Professional (Commercial) Hollywood Style DVD Menu's.
After testing around fifteen different programs, which included installing and uninstalling the programs, then cleaning up my
computer everytime I removed another program from my computer, which took tons of hours, and weeks of my time to find
the right program to do this.
I finally found the program that I am telling you about which makes the Real Professional (Commercial) Hollywood Style DVD Menu's,
without having to pay tons of money just to make DVD Menu's.
Since there is not another person who knows how to fix Corel, I guess I have no choice other then to go out and buy Photo Impact, and
do the job myself. In the meantime, I have the other program to do what I want it to do just for now, until I figure out exactly what .ufo
file, and in what folder the file is in, is the file that needs to be changed to make this happen in The Corel Corporations program
"Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate".
I was hoping by writing this thread and all of my replies in depth with very good explainations, that someone would step forward to start
experimenting (since they might have Photo Impact), to try and find the right file, in the right folder, and try to come up with a solution.
At this point after spending hours upon hours of time, I have opened and made changes to tons of .ufo, and .ini files in the program, however
to no avail.
Considering the fact that I had been in constant contact with The Corel Corporation for months, trying to get answers or get them to fix this
issue, and also that I had spent the time to find a program at a very low cost that would do the job, and to come here to tell everyone how to
make this happen for themselves.
I know that I am not the only person who wants this to happen, because after spending hours on the internet, finding tons of posts about this,
and finally landing up here at this forum tells me that other people want this to happen also.
Who ever comes to this thread and is interested to solving their DVD final project Menu issue. Then please go back and read every reply in this
thread that pertains to this subject.
Again, like I said I was hoping that someone would step forward and say "Hey Ross, since you have done all of this work, spent all of this time and
effort and provided everyone with a temporary solution. The least that I can do is that I will continue and try to find this change that is needed in
the program for everyone, ok", "especially since I happen to own Photo Impact".

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Hi Ross
Before you spend your money on Photo Impact I have been unable to create a UFO template using any other controls than is used by the program.
If Corel still have a trial version of PI I would suggest you first try that.
The templates Navigation Controls are activated by Video Studio not the menu template. I guess Photo Impact creates the standard menu template and VS does the rest, if you get my drift.
Video Studio Navigation Controls affect the Main Menu, the Sub-Menu does not seem to react to Back to Menu, if it did I think we would be able to create the effects you are after. Selecting a sub menu and playing just that clip.

Re: Issue's With Share Make DVD Menu, Please Help.
Just wanted to add a comment about the Womble product mentioned in this post (MPEG Video Wizard DVD) ; You can try (Womble Easydvd) and cut the cost in half, if you are serious and like it's menu creation. I believe it does the same thing with menu's, but without some of the other authoring misc. stuff .
The ( Easydvd ) module seems to be the same one that is incorporated into (MPEG Video Wizard DVD).
I have used Easydvd for certain menu's that were easier and quicker to create and burned the dvd folder structure to H.D. and another feature that can come
in handy at times is the Womble products will let you burn an (oversize output). I'll stop here, because I still am satisfied with what I use VS X5 for.
