VS 4 file crashed and asking me to send dmp file
if I send the dmp file, what happens then? Can Corel fix my file? Or does it just show them what kind of errors their users are getting? 4 hours of work/editing (pictures from our honeymoon) for about 5 minutes of actual project...special animation, etc....or should I just start over? How long does it take them to analyze a dmp file? How do I send it? I could feel like crying at this point if the file has been damaged forever. The project was perfect.

What "VS file crashed"?
The dump file has nothing to do with your original source files. The dump file contains information about the state of your system at the time of the error, which program was running, etc. What do you mean by the "project was perfect"? If the project was perfect then why are you getting errors and generating a dump file?
Perhaps you had best explain with some detail exactly what you are doing and what happens.

Re: VS 4 file crashed and asking me to send dmp file
the VS project file that has the timeline, images, etc is what I was referring to. It's like it got 97% of the way importing the images when opening the file and then I got the error.
Not much I could really explain unfortunately...it's like I was done with it and happy with it, saved it so I could make a DVD later tonight hopefully, worked on another VS4 file on my computer for about 5 minutes and then when I tried to reopen my original file I got the error message. I tried removing the file it got stuck on off my machine, and even renaming it and replacing that image with a diff. image under the same name (maybe that jpg was bad?) but nothing.
I've done a lot of projects in VS and have never had this happen.

Better check out Event Viewer for logs. Usually I start there and check what's the issue.

What does this mean " I tried removing the file it got stuck on off my machine, and even renaming it and replacing that image with a diff. image under the same name (maybe that jpg was bad?) but nothing."? What file are you talking about? A file in your project file, the project file itself or what? What does "but nothing" mean? Please try to be specific, we are not there and looking over your shoulder.
Did you close the one project file before you opened the other project file? What happens when you restart X4, and open the "problem" project file again?

Re: VS 4 file crashed and asking me to send dmp file
Sorry if I wasn't clear.
It's like kinda stuck on loading one image before it crashes when I open the project file. Like, it loads 50 images in 20 seconds, but at 97% loaded, it hangs up and Crash and error
So I'm thinking if the image is bad for some reason, what if I remove the image from my computer and maybe it'll ask to relink it? Crash and error
What if replace the image "img_342" (a sunset) with "img_342" (a sunrise, different image altogether)? Crash and error
I tried rebooting my machine, tried reopening the file Crash and error

Re: VS 4 file crashed and asking me to send dmp file
You need to have an account with Corel -- perhaps set up when you registered the product with them (if you registered it!!) But it will (probably) be a different log-in and password from the ones you use for this Board. Once you are logged into the Corel site click on the Support button. On the new page you will see towards the bottom right another link to 'Contact Tech Support'. Note also above that your personal PIN number which I think may be required to submit your dump file.

Re: VS 4 file crashed and asking me to send dmp file
I see the part on my account where it shows my PIN number, but to submit a question it takes me back to an area that has just a simple "submit your question" form...no way to attach a file.
Another option is to purchase a one-time priority support or annual support plan since it's out of warranty. But I'm not really wanting to pay money for this.
I wonder if I asked them "how do I submit a dmp file" if they might send me another link or something?
If they can't, I guess I'll just try to recreate the project the best I can.
