VS Pro X5 "free" storage - free or not free ?
I just ordered VS Pro X5 which was advertised as coming with 100GB of free on-line storage.
When I went to the storage site, I was asked for a credit card which will be charged 9.99 per month after
a 3 month 100GB trial. I went back through the Corel offer and didn't see any mention of the 3 month limit.
Do I have this wrong ? Am I looking in the wrong place ?

I have had X5 for a while so didn't get that offer - but you say you have ordered X5 - not installed it yet.
I would guess that when you receive your copy of X5 you will also receive some sort of special link or code number to activate the free storage - if you just go to the website "blind" then they will assume you are a new customer and want you to pay.

We also have a saying “don’t hold your breath”
I just added X5 to my Cart as though I was purchasing.
The option for 25 free space also showed, but on clicking the info link I saw this message window.
Notice the 6 months limit.

Even that is not consistent because the advert mangurian posted above promises 100Gb free - all quite odd.

My father has a saying.
"If it's free, I can't afford it"

I have no idea what you are complaining about. The link you posted shows that you are entitled to 3 months free storage. What more did you expect - life-time free storage?

Re: VS Pro X5 "free" storage - free or not free ?
absolutely ! There was no mention of a trial period.
Storegate gives a 12 month trial of 5 G even if you buy nothing.
I get permanent free storage from Google, Microsoft, Box.com, and Dropbox.
Why wouldn't I expect permanent storage when it is used as a come-on
to buy a product?
I will not pursue this any further since Storegate is a non-player and I would
not trust any "keeper" videos to them. Google & Skydrive will still be around in 10 years.
Just a bit disappointed in Corel. I have been happy with their products so I will
stick with them.

Re: VS Pro X5 "free" storage - free or not free ?
I would not trust any storage site (even less a so called free one) to store my video or any file without a local backup for the next 10 years. Corel is not in the business of "storing data" so far. The Storegate offer is simply a teaser similar to when you buy a new computer system you get all sorts of "free" software. There are too many sites that used to be free and are now just another commercial site wanting your money.
BTW, the link you posted shows a 3 months free period and a cost of $9.99 per month after that.

Re: VS Pro X5 "free" storage - free or not free ?
The email advert I got from Corel made no mention of 3 months or a trial. It saidcanuck wrote:

100 G of free online storage. I clicked on the link in the email and bought VS Pro X5.
The link I posted showed up after the purchase. Anyhow, this discussion is getting boring.
The guy who wrote the ad for Corel is now probably out hawking Chevy Volts somewhere.
So let's all drop this and say that from now on, I will buy via phone and ask a bunch of questions.
