editing mp4

Post by 1rustytree »

Couple questions, 1, is there a new user board for basic questions?
I have ProX4, purchased version, running Win7-3g proc-6 g ram-64 bit- 1T harddrive- appox 1 month old.
I ran the software on the old Vista machine also. Not very well.
My camcorder is HD and I run it in 720P 60fps - it outputs MP4/h264 video to a 16g class10 card
I have Smart Proxy enabled
When I edit on the timeline(from using WMM6) there is a very annoying lag when i cut and remove portions then restart timeline ,cut some more and so on. After a few cuts(with the sissors button) the preview video gets jerky and the audio starts dropping out. Is there anything I am missing on setting the program up properly, I thought the new comp would help as its 2times faster. Thanks

There are many reason for the lag, my suggestion is that to make sure that video is saved on the hard drive first and not used any other program when you import it in VS X4. Also if you have enabled the Smart Proxy, the proxy files may needed to be generated first.

Yes, the SmartProxy files take some time to generate, so you need to be patient while they do. When generated, the thumbnails in the library window will have a little double icon up in the top left corner...

OK thanks for the replys, I assume you mean just import them from the card to a folder on my computer then import the mp4 from my folder into VSProx4, without any other re-formatting.

Hi

Yes, import from card to PC.
Right click video studio timeline and select Insert Video, browse for your files. Or insert to library then drag and drop.
Smart Proxy files should be created automatically, as Ken says they do take a while to create.
View the settings Smart Proxy Queue Manager for a progress.

You can also manually create the proxy files by right clicking a clip, create proxy files.

Editing 60fps, set the option from Settings menu.

Note---Whilst editing you may find right clicking will give other options
