Stealing isn't nice, in any way, shape or form

Post by Joelle »

Spotted in the Xara
http://www.xara.com/us/
TalkGraphics forum:

Quote:
"In the mid-90s Corel entered into a distribution agreement with Xara. The deal was they would get Xara into US markets.

After one year, Corel stopped supporting Xara. After they had copied Xara's on-screen interactive interface, transparency tool, Infobar etc.
All of these features were new to the next release which was DRAW 7.
Fortunately, Xara was able to get out of the contract and has done very well since".

Shame on Corel :-(

Hmmm... Draw 7 was the first version I bought after 3 (and 1)... But interesting. I also have a number of Xara products, including the very useful Xara 3D. And yes, I am glad Xara has made a name for itself, though I can't say I am particularly surprised by the alleged Corel tactics, given what has happened to at least some of the competing products of companies they have taken over...

I admit I was very surprised to read this.
A shame.

Ken, I don't see this post in the forum.
Is there a reason for that?

Whilst I have your attention.. how do I delete private messages?
My box is almost full and I can't find anywhere that says "Delete"!

open up your inbox - click to tick the little box against the right hand end of each post you want to delete.

go to the very bottom of your inbox you will see a drop down which by default shows "Mark/Unmark as important" change that to "Delete Marked" - click on "Go" then OK the verification - posts gone.

Same procedure also applies to "Sent messages" - that keeps a record of all messages you send - so will also be filling up.

Well, I think if Xara would file a case today, they would still win! Just like Apple with Samsung. Image
