Original Sample files

Post by Terfyn »

I seem to have lost the original files associated with the Sample Library. The location exists but the individual files are missing. I have the disks for VS Pro X5 Ultimate and I reloaded the program but this did not restore the files relating to the Sample Library.
Any ideas on how to recover these files please?

To add to this question. C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Samples\ contains V21 (video) and PO1 but none of the other sample files. I have looked at the disk but cannot find a lead into a folder containing these samples.

Hi Terfyn

A few things to look at:-

I have a problem running X5 on the Laptop 64 bit

I have to run in XP Compatibility mode.
First symptoms are selecting the Images from the library, will give a re-link, that does not work as it points to C:\Program Files but should be C:\Program Files (x86)

Video Studio uses a Library Manager this allows you to Export, Import and re-set the library
Go to Settings Library Manager
If this does not work

There is a process to reset the workstation to its default state

Manually resetting Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 to its Factory Default Setting

When you re-install X5 it may not replace the folders mentioned above.

After re-setting the library let us know just what content you have, take a screen shot and attach the image to your post.

I see 26 Video, 28 Photo's, and 40 Sound files

Basically the Samples library is empty.
The point is that I can reload the Sample Library but the source folders which held the Sample files are virtually empty. There are no original files to reload even if I wanted to.
I have looked at the DVD holding the VS5 source but cannot find how to reload the Samples into their approprate folders on my PC. I reloaded VS5 but it did not reload the Samples.
Why did they load on the initial load of VS5 but not on this later reload of VS5?

Hi

At the top of the library, to the left are 4 icons, are these Grey (not selected) or Yellow (selected)

Float the mouse for a tool tip.

Terfyn - under the C:\Program Files (x86)\Corel\Corel VideoStudio Ultimate X5\Samples\ there are 4 further folders - do you see those ?

in which case just copy the files from your DVD into the appropriate folder - no special installation required - just drag and drop from disc to hard drive folder.

Sorry to be so dense! but where are the files held on the DVD?
The folders are virtually empty on the PC just two items, the lady with the laptop and one sample.

I have looked through the DVD contents and nothing shows up as Samples.

Hi

Some purchases provide a bonus files that contain samples, these would be in the form of jpegs, wmv etc., I think Brian may have been thinking about the Bonus Disc.

The actual installation disc will not show files in this format but be part of the actual application .exe file.
The library of X5 should be populated in full with the installation of the program.

Did you try the options from my first post?

Where did you purchase your copy of Video Studio X5?

Sorry Terfyn my error - on many previous versions of VideoStudio you could access the samples independently from the install DVD - but I have just checked the X5 disc and as you say the samples are not available independently - they are obviously now contained in one of the installation files.

maybe a complete manual un-install followed by re-installation would fix the problem - by a complete manual un-install I mean by following the full procedure given here :- http://tinyurl.com/chnp2r3 - then start from new again.
