Can't progress beyond chapter 10 Corel Video Studio Pro X4

I have created my project a number of times and have had no problems. I had to go in and edit a number of clips and am now in the process of trying to save to disk. I have created a menu - the same way as I have done previously. However, when I preview before burning the movie stops after clip 10 and does not progress to clip 11 or 12. Any idea what I have done or what is causing this please?

Are we talking chapters or clips ? - two different things.

Can you explain a bit more about what happens and when ? You have a number of clips ?? (is this the 12) in the timeline which you have finished editing ?

you go to "Share >> Create video file" and produce a DVD compliant mpeg2 file - yes ? or no ?

this video plays in windows Media player without problems - yes ? or - is this where your problems start - or where exactly are you getting the problem that it stops playing. Or are you previewing in VideoStudio - in which case how? - using which of VideoStudios preview facilities.

Hi - thanks for your reply.

I opened Video Studio - click on Share - choose the DVD option

Add the twelve separate clips - each individually named to the timeline
Go to menu
Customise my menu and have the twelve clips with their own option to click on so that the user can choose where to start viewing.
Go to preview. After clip 10 you return to the menu without viewing the final two sections.

I hope this makes sense.

Sorry to be a nuisance but I tried burning the project to disk and it has worked and played all the way through. No idea what I was doing wrong. I am wondering if I go in to preview it will only play the one clip/section rather than from there right to the end?

OK - so you can see all 12 selections in your DVD menu - but VS only plays the first 10 - what happens if you manually select 11 and 12 - do they play then. do you have a menu template which has 12 selections - they are quite rare.

have you checked the properties of numbers 11 and 12 - are they identical to the other 10

The best way to check a videos properties in VideoStudio is to put the clip in the timeline of the editing section of VideoStudio and RIGHT clicking over it and choosing 'properties' - do 11 and 12 give exactly the same figures as the rest.


EDIT - I see you posted while I was typing - when I use the preview "play all" button it plays through all of my clips before going back to the menu - something strange on your system - but if you have now successfully burnt a working DVD I guess you are now happy and thats the important thing.

Hi there again. I am not sure what I did. For some reason I thought I was previewing the whole project but it clicked off after clip 10 and went back to menu so I kept trying to do different things and play from Clip 10 to see if it would progress to clip 11 which it would not. I could view 11 and 12 by viewing them direct from the menu... probably spent hours trying to sort out a problem that didn't really exist.... as I now have burnt the master disk and that plays ok I am not going near this project again (hopefully).

Really appreciate your help. I have found X4 brilliant to do the project I needed to impress them at work.... which they thought could be done with moviemaker!! I have taught myself how to use x4 by reading the forum and viewing youtube videos. II am really impressed with the programme which has been on my computer for a number of years and went unused because it was too complicated.... but not now!!!!

Just read this post and I do have a 12 thumbnail menu available if you wish, it is made for widescreen 16:9. Customised for my own use but feel sure we can do something about that.

Video Studio X4 only allows for 8 thumbnails per menu page and then you have to customise to get that.

No time today to sort out a download, let me know if you need a 12 title thumbnail menu?
Also I think there is one available from the forums free downloads section
