I got a new laptop and loaded VS x4 on it. I have a complex edit that I started on my big desktop, where everything worked fine. I have a mix of AVCHD and MOV (1080i QuickTime) files, and they work together with no problem on the desktop computer.
However, the new laptop simply can't "see" the QuickTime files. I can't load them into the Library, so I can't re-link them in my project. I updated my version of VS x4 to SP2 on this computer, and still no go with the MOV files. How do I get VS to recognize the MOV files?
Edit: I can play the MOV files on the computer and I loaded the latest version of QuickTime. But VideoStudio still doesn't recognize QuickTime (MOV) files. MOV is not a selection in the drop-down list when I choose formats of videos to load into the Library.
Thanks!

Re: Can't see QuickTime files
Bob - did the laptop have an earlier version of Quicktime on it, such as the version that comes with VS? For some totally unknown reason, VS works with the latest version of QT for some users on some computers (e.g. you and your PC, and mine too) but not for others. We have no idea why this happens. I have never had any trouble with the latest versions on a variety of computers, including my latest laptop (see my Profile). But for those who do have the problem, we recommend uninstalling the latest QT and reinstalling the version which came with VS.
This will, of course, cause a problem if you have an iPod and have to have the latest version of QT to work with iTunes.

Re: Can't see QuickTime files
That's what the problem was. I deleted the nasty new version of QuickTime that I updated today and reloaded the creaky old version of QuickTime from the VS x4 disk. VideoStudio now sees and can edit MOV (QuickTime) files. Fortunately, I don't have an iPod or iPhone, so iTunes is not a problem for me.Ken Berry wrote:Bob - did the laptop have an earlier version of Quicktime on it, such as the version that comes with VS? Incidentally, this is a 3rd-gen i7 computer, so I'm interested to see how VS works with it.
Weird that you can't update QuickTime. My desktop is not connected to the Internet, so there is no constant updating in the background. I keep this desktop computer permanently offline so that I do not need to run antivirus software. It boots quickly and runs perfectly, and has for more than a year now. (It's a 2nd-gen i7.)
Thanks for the help, Ken!
