Noise Filter Plugin for X4 / X5

Post by edwinn »

This may have been asked before: What is a VERY good noise filter plugin for X4 or X5? In the past few months I demo's Adobe's Lightroom which had an excellent noise removal capability.. AMAZING really. The problem with Lightroom was NO support for PNG files.. and I have 10's of thousands of them. Bad Move Adobe! Anyway LR's filter was astonishing. Many of my images need such a noise filter, and the stock one isn't so hot.

Thanks,

It's not a plug-in, but the free Raw Therapee application gives you a thousand times more adjustments than Lightroom will ever have, including two Noise Reduction tools. It works on Raw files, of course, as well as other image formats, including PNG:

Yeah... I see in the docs a section on SHARPENING with parameters like Threshold. This software is stand-alone? I'm really looking for a high-end noise and sharpening filter plugin. Thanks.

You could take a look at Topaz DeNoise. It's not free but it is a plug-in and they offer a free trial http://www.topazlabs.com/denoise/
PSPX9 | PSP2020 | PSP2021| PSP2022 | PSP2023 & PhotoMirage installed; PSPX | PSPX2 thru PSP2019 owned but not installed

Well the NIK plug in is very, very good, but it sure isn't cheap: http://www.niksoftware.com/dfine/usa/entry.php
Adverts for Corel products when you close PSP don't bother me.

There's more than one way to skin a cat. I'm assuming that you still own Lightroom and would prefer it. PSP has a Batch Process function under the File menu. You could just convert all of your PNGs to Tiffs (or whatever format would work for you) and use LR, which is familiar to you and you like the results.

Barring that try looking at some of the denoising plugins at http://thepluginsite.com/resources/plug ... eReduction
PSP can use .8bf filters for the most part. Some filters just won't work. I sure wish Corel would look into that.
