PSP X3 Preset Shape Tool freezes

PSP X3 is usually very stable but occasionally when I use the Preset Shape Tool to overlay an arrow onto my image, it freezes permanently. Waiting it out in the hope of self recovery doesn't work. I'm running X3 on a Windows 7 Ultimate Dell Studio 17 laptop, 32 bits, 4 GB RAM. Not sure if anyone has encountered this before.

Do you have all of the patches installed?

PSPX3 used to crash if you tried to create a vector while one of the materials was turned off. Otherwise I have no clue, it worked just fine for me after patch #4.

My X3 is updated to Patch 5 since last year.
