Photo editing area background colour / color
I can't find any preferences for changing the photo editing area background colour. I am not sure what it is called but what I am talking about is the space in the middle of the program where photos open up into (not the workspace option which changes the menu bar colours of which I am using the blue option.) At the moment the centre area is a charcoal colour. When I am editing a photo which is smaller than this space it is surrounded by this colour and it makes it hard for me to see the thin black border which I place around some photos. Can I change the colour of the editing area to white?

If you change your workspace colour to medium grey you will find that that middle workspace colour (Edit mode X4) is lighter than full black which seems to occur with the other choices.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

You should find workspace colour under the 'View' menu. Different shades of grey and blue in X4, X5 choices are unknown to me .

Re: Photo editing area background colour / color
Currently, there is no way to change the workarea's background though. Only the Medium Grey has a slightly lighter color for that area as hartpaul mentioned.
If, however, you changed to a Light grey, and then zoomed into the image, you should be able to see that black border just fine. You just have to put up with being zoomed in.
This was a complaint with X4, though we were very happy that Corel took the time to completely re-write a lot of UI code to offer us these four choices. We do eventually hope for the ability to change that workarea background color.
