I thought maybe someone could help me with this little problem. ASP shows my cam as A77V and I was wondering if that is why I can't get it to make any lens corrections. I was reading another thread and someone said that the crop factor was the important thing. So I manually put in that my cam was a Nikon D90 with a Tamron 18-250 and that gets the corrections I want.
Does anyone know of a way to make ASP default to that so I don't have to manually put in D90 with the Tamron lens. Kind of a pain to put that in every time.
I have a A77 with a Tamron 18-270 PZD by the way so the 18-250 is close enough.

Re: Sony A77
I alaso have the 18-270 PZD, but on A65.
You need to edit two files in AfterShotPro/supportfiles/Profiles/LensProfiles (whereever your AfterShotPro install folder is, on Linux it's in /opt)
In profile_minoltalenstable.txt add one line after lens ID 57, so it reads like:
in profile_genericSLR.txt at the end add this:
This is the data from said 18-250 crop 1.5 tamron, and focal length 270 is just a copy of 250.

Thanks teekay!
I kind of did a hatchet job by changing the crop from 1.6 to 1.5 on a Tamron 18-270 I found under Nikon and it's been working but I will do this you suggest. Once again, THANKS!

Re: Sony A77
Now if they would just put in the database for the 16-50 f2.8 Sony, I would be happy. I find it weird that very popular lens is not in there. It has some pretty bad distortion.
Re: Sony A77
That's what I'm actually using, I just didn't want to recommend ittexascbx wrote:Thanks teekay!

But the result is quite OK, way better than no correction at all...

Re: Sony A77
Hi guys,
It's really great to see other A77 users here. I tried to find the 18-270mm PZD profile some months ago but I seemed to have missed it. Thanks for pointing me to it. I am currently working on getting the calibrations for the 16-50mm done. It's a slow process (lots of clicking on lines) but I'm doing it. I will share it here as soon as I'm done. Of course if you guys have time and want to help it would speed things up. It's not a difficult process it just takes time.
I was also curious about what you guys use to handle the noise when shooting at higher ISOs. Do you use ASP's Noise Ninja or do you use wavelet denoise. What kind of settings do you use?

Re: Sony A77
I use registered version of Noise Ninja. Not sure what is going to happen now that there is no Noise Ninja going forward, just Photo Ninja. The say they are going to make a plugin of Photo Ninja I think, but to allow that to work with ASP, it would have to be new version I suppose. By the way, I tried Photo Ninja and it's not better, IMHO than ASP.
I am totally lost as far as making a lens profile. The 16-50 f2.8 Sony has some pretty bad distortion at 16mm. If you want to see how bad, set your cam to jpeg and the lens at 16mm and point it at some columns or a brick wall. Focus and then push the button on the right front of the camera. It toggles corrected and uncorrected image in the EVF.
ASP hardly ever gets the lens right though. The only lens that ASP registers correctly is my Tamron 200-500 on the A77. I went in and deleted half of the lens profiles that I will never use and it makes it a lot easier to scroll down to the right lens like the PZD. Every once in about 20 pics or so, it recognizes the 18-270 PZD so I don't have to scroll around for it.
