Hilight/Clipping Warning Does Not Work

Post by dori »

The highlights clipping warning does not work. This is on RAW files. I can bring the exposure setting all the way to the right, and no clipping shows.

This bug was first introduced after Bibble 5.2.2, and I see that it persists in Corel AfterShot Pro.

It's a very useful tool, please fix this bug! I upgraded to Corel AfterShot Pro, but I'm stucking using Bibble just due to this bug.

Thanks!

P.S. I'm using the AMD64 Debian package under Ubuntu.

The threshold was the default 254. I tried setting it to lower and it didn't work.

Do you have Curves enabled? If so, turn it off and see if you get the warning. In curves you can bring down the white point ever so slightly so that the highlight warning does not go off.....even if you max out the exposure and contrast controls.

The curves were off, but I just realized that the tool works for RAW files from Canon (350D, 40D, 5DMII), but does not work for raw files from my Panasonic DMC-GF3. At least for the moment, I think the bug may be confined to this specific RAW format.

OK, I was mistaken. The issue isn't just Panasonic GF3 specific. It just happened to me on a Canon 5D MII raw file. I'll upload a screenshot. Notice how I've enabled the clip warning and pushed the exposure to +3, and still no clip warning shows up.

It's possible the perfectly clear option is messing it up. If I turn it off it seems to work.
