Hello.
I recently purchased a new computer, that doesn't have a CD drive.
My problem is: I now want to install Paintshop Photo Pro X3 which I have a registered CD version to my new comp, but I don't have the drive to do it.
I can't get the setup files from my old comp because it has died.
Can anyone tell me where I can get a LEGAL X3 download from.
I know I can purchase an external drive, but right now funds are low, which is why I had to get a smaller comp.
I also don't want to upgrade at this time, because again, thats more money and I already have a paid copy.
Thanks for any help

Re: New Computer
Try the Corel website .
http://www.corel.com/corel/product/inde ... ageCode=en
Download the trial install it and then add your CD Serial number to that and register.

Thank you so much hartpaul. Downloading now.
I wasn't sure if the trial version would give me a full version if I entered my key
and I didn't want to go through the whole process and then have to uninstall.
FINALLY! I get psp back.

Re: New Computer
And don't forget to backup that file and any other downloaded freebies in a couple of different places , even another CD, just incase the support for older versions is removed.

Re: New Computer
Your right hartpaul. I always keep 4 backups of everything............. I still have things from way back. PSP ver.5........lol
Here's my situation.
I downloaded the file. Went to install it and can't get past the section that says where it's about to install the file and do I want to change it.
I'm not changing where it wants to install by default, but I can't get past that window. I hit enter and nothing happens.
The reason I hit enter is because I don't think I am seeing the bottom of that window to hit Ok or whatever other option there is.
When I try and drag that install window up a bit, it bounces back in its original position, as though snapping to grid, so to speak.
When I turn off windows grid, the same thing happens.
Hope I am making myself clear.
I went to have a live chat to see if I could get help right away, because I wasn't sure how fast I would get a response from the board,
the tech told me after explaining my situation, that the trial wouldn't work if I used my key. The key is only for the disc copy and that they no longer
supported X3 because they are now on X5. Now that just seems strange to me, because why on earth would you continue to offer the trial for purchase
if you no longer support it. Just dosen't make sense.
Right now I don't even know whats new in X5. I may in the future upgrade, but right now, I just want my X3 back before going that route.
Please help me. I am using a 10.5" Gateway. Windows 7 starter. 64bit. 320GB HD
Thank you

Re: New Computer
By an external CD Rom drive. They are quite cheap these days.

As for what is new in X5, well that technically includes what was new in x4.
1) Improved Text tool. No, the space at the end of the text is still a problem but filtering through fonts, changing font sizes, and all of that is much easier now. It's almost like it was back in X2. Though still not quite. At least it doesn't update the text display and then force you back into text edit mode after every single selection. Very nice in my opinion.
2) New and improved HDR tools - X5 included the ability to create an HDR photo from a single RAW image instead of 3 bracketed ones.
3) Photo Blend feature - similar to Windows Live Photo Gallery's PhotoFuze tool though not as easy. But potentially more powerful. I still hate it but it's useful.
4) Selective Focus - or Tilt Shift - effect. It applied a graduated linear or radial blur and a few other things like saturaiton improvements to let you focus in on important parts of your image even to the point of making them look like minatures. It makes for some really fun and cool effects.
5) Fill Light/Clarity filter.
6) You can have the organizer in your Edit mode again if you hate workin in Manage mode. Though it still only allows the film-strip view of your photos. I hope they change that some day.
7) More social media sharing, facebook, flickr, google+ and so on.
8) Simple Graduated filter effect
9) Retro Lab - not to be confused with the Time Machine
10) Importing Adobe brushes has finally been updated to include the latest format....for most brushes but not all.
11) Geo-location and mapping of your photos for a guided tour
12) Facial Recognition for sorting photos by people
13) Running multiple scripts quickly one after the other.
14) New "watercolor' art-media brush
15) Very annoying Corel Guide but eventually a "do not show on startup" checkbox will appear letting you turn that off. Thankfully.
I think that's it. I would have to go over my notes. If nothing else, try and see if you like it. :D

Re: New Computer
Thank you Levifiction for taking the time to post all the info,
but quite frankly, right now I am not interested in the new features.
An upgrade will cost me $59.00, or maybe even have to pay for the full version considering in my case I can't get the old one installed to upgrade.
A new external drive will cost me another $40.00 of which I don't have at the moment.
That was the reason I purchased this much smaller comp to hold me over temporarily until I can afford a bigger one.
My daughter just started college 2 months ago. With the expense of purchasing her a brand new comp, tuition and books, my comp died a month later and
I was lucky enough to be able to purchase this $200.00 comp. Is there any situation for my dilema. I just want to get back to creating. <sigh>

Re: New Computer
Well, upgrades in PSP are not actual upgrades. It's simply upgrade pricing. You're still buying the full product.
So as long as your version of PSP qualifies you for an upgrade, you don't have to actually have it installed.
As for the dialog appearing too large for your screen, this is something very annoying about Corel recently. They take it for granted that all screens will have a large enough screen size to handle their statically sized dialogs. They really need to think more before they make those kinds of decisions.
Now, Windows does not like it when you place a dialog beyond the bounds of the screen. Well, at least the top of the screen. And will bounce back because of that. Is the "OK" button actually selected when you drag the window up? If not hitting Enter won't do a thing. You can try hitting the TAB key to see if it will select, or highlight the OK button before hitting ENTER.
Sometimes these buttons have shortcuts applied to them though. Such as if the O is underlined. If so you could try hitting Alt + the underlined letter and seeing if that does the trick.
I just have no tricks for getting a dialog positioned above screen, most people don't want that.

Re: New Computer
Levifiction, I can't thank you and hartpaul enough. First the tech told me my CD key wouldn't work.
He lied. It worked just like hartpaul said it would. And your solution on using the tab key to get through my button situation worked as well. I was so desperate to get this installed I never thought about that. I was using the arrow keys instead. duh!
Well it's finally installed and I have a full working version. Now to copy all my psp backed up folders and I'm back in business and one happy camper.........lol
As per your instructions hartpaul, I have everything backed up.
Thank u both immensly
