How to delete images?

It should be easy, but it isn't.
After the flaws I described in this thread, I changed my workflow to not delete images, but just mark them as rejected. Then I try to delete all rejected images at one go.
It also doesn't work.

If I deselect + select all images, hit del, Aftershot says, "1 master version(s) selected:". I have no clue which one it thinks I have selected, but what I expect is it to say "35 Master Version(s) selected", where 35 is the actual number of selected images shown in the program.

I have tried these approaches:
1) Delete an image directly after I have considered it useless. This fails because I cannot know which file AS will delete (it for sure won't delete the currently selected one). In the linked post above it would delete the last file I had exported.
2) Mark an image as rejected, and then try to delete all rejected images at one go. This fails too, because Select All + Delete does only delete one file, which one I have not dared to investigate.

Bottom line, how do you fellow AS users delete files?

Are you in multi-image view or single-image view mode? Deleting multiple images/versions at once only works in single-image view mode ...

I mark all images I want to delete as rejected. Than I create a new folder like "to delete" and move all rejected images into this folder. After I've processed all images I delete the "to delete" folder with the operating system functions, like Windows Explorer. This is the safest way to delete images in Aftershot. I do not use the library function.

The approach I use appears to be the same as described in the first post and have used it with a few versions of ASP:
- mark rejected images with x flag. I do this in File view
- in thumbnails view, use filter for all flagged images
- ctrl-A to select filtered images
- press delete and check the number of images selected vs. to be deleted. If they match, proceed.

The danger with the last step is that at the time the filter is used an image had been selected. So when ctrl-A is used the last selected image is still active together with the additional ones in the filter. To get around this I mouse click in an empty area so nothing is selected, then use ctrl-A. I've reported this to the Monkey with the suggestion that when the filter is invoked focus should be dropped from any previous images.

This method appears to work and as far as I know I have not deleted images I want to keep. I check what is left after deletion since there does seem to be a problem with deleting. I do batch moves and entry into the catalog after this.

Everyone, thanks for your input.
It seems I am on the right track, but I have occurring problems with the following stage.

press delete and check the number of images selected vs. to be deleted. If they match, proceed.

In my case, it doesn't match very often, hence I can't proceed. Sometimes I have to click around for minutes in order for the "one selected image" to become unselected. Visually it becomes unselected (the white frame disappears), but AS still believes I have a single selection rather than multi.
I will poke around some more and see if I can come up with a procedure that works %100.

FYI If you untick the "Always show selected versions" in the Filter dialog then any images selected that don't fit the filter criteria will disappear.

If you leave it ticked they will stay in view & selected even if they don't meet the filter criteria.

So I suppose it's best to leave the checkbox ticked, to avoid "hidden" selected images.

I've not tried deleting with a selected file hidden by the filter but other actions that I've just quickly tried (pick, star ratings) are not applied to the hidden image even though it reappears as a selected image if you remove the filter.

My delete function has stopped working altogether.

Running Debian Linux, AFP version 1.0.1.10. It's in single image mode, and I've tried this from F8 and F7 and F6 screens, ie one image at a time and multiple images at a time, selecting by filter and without. Nothing works. When I start from a terminal and try and delete images, I get this message:

72185.210: "Hidden warning dialog: removeFSMasters - <p>1 Master Version(s) are selected.</p>This will delete and move the selected Master Files to your computer's Recycle Bin, and will remove all of the versions derived from the selected master versions."
72186.46: Problem removing version's meta data
72186.47: Remove Version command failed 1

I chmod 777 the whole folder of images so it's not a permissions error. I've not added or changed any metadata to the files myself - most of them are untouched, obviously, because they're the rejects.

Any ideas?

Check the permissions of your cache and the trash directory.

I have been through the ringer with Corel support. In the end I allowed the tech to connect to my computer and allowed him to check things out. While he was connected deleting files actually worked. I selected a number of image files to remove, pressed the Del key and they were removed. All fixed, right?

Not so fast. After I disconnected from the live support, I rebooted my PC, and fired up AfterShot.

Now when I select more than one file and press the Del key, only the 1st file that was selected gets deleted.

I am back to square one.

Also, I do not think the customer service people understand English. They seem to reference something else when I explain my situation. Not happy.
