Not a happy Corel customer

Post by brucet »

I have used PSP from way back. 5.
I downloaded the x5 trial and after two week I purchased it. Corel sent me a Serial Code.
Now the 30 days have run out and x5 has stopped working. Even though I entered the serial code.
It now seems I need an Activation Code. It's late Friday and Corel phone service is shut down until Monday.
My work computer in not an online computer.
I need to work over the weekend and Corel has left me stranded.

How do I tell clients that my fully paid for program nolonger works and I can't deliver this weekend?

while it may be late in your part of the world it is still only mid-morning here in the UK - and it is very early Friday morning in the USA and Canada.

I notice that the UK support lines are open for another 6 hours yet - might be worth you checking around the various local Corel websites for a UK or US number and appeal for help - their all connected to the same server so may be able to help.

Fixed.
I opened a file with Corel online service.
Got a reply and the service tech told me he was available for another 20 minutes.
In that time he guided me through the issues via emails. Sent me activation codes for my desktop and laptop. Waited for me then to send back an email confirming that problem was solved. It was.

The issue revolves around Corels lack of clear instructions. They send you an email with a Serial Number and confirming your purchase. But nowhere do they say that you still need to again contact Corel for an Activation code and that you with also need the Installation Code.

So you need a Serial Code.
An Installation Code.
And finally an Activation Code.

But over all I'm happy with Corels service. But then again it seems a clumsy procedure.

Strange. I have installed X4 X5 and have only had to copy and paste the serial number. Admittidly when I installed I had it connected to the internet so perhaps it was auto activated while I was on line.
Your procedure may be an offline one.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867

Abiel that's all very well if you have an internet connection on the computer that PSP is installed on.

Now try it without an internet connection. Nowhere can I find a reference to offline activation other than a phoning Corel. The site you link to doesn't mention OFF line activation at all.

I'm someone who doesn't trust the internet with all my files. So my work computer is NEVER connected to the internet.

The simple answer is for Corel to put some more details in the purchase confirmation email they send out.
They need to make it clear that you need a Serial Number, an Installation Code and an Activation Code.
The Serial Code is in the confirmation email. But how do you find the Installation Code?
Corel need to point to its location.
Then Corel needs to tell you how to get an Activation Code. Either by connecting to the internet. By phone. Or by Email.

Not good enough.

Everything worked out well for me. But I lost some hours waiting for Corel to get back to me. The service tech was excellent. But it didn't need to be so hard.

I hope someone at Corel reads this and make a few very small adjustments to their purchased confirmation email.

In a nutshell, Corel programs are not Enterprise Ready.
