Comparing a JPEG to a RAW is, IMO, like comparing what you can see on the LCD screen of your camera to what you can see on a 24" well calibrated monitor.
IMO again, the reddish skin of the children looks much more as an underexposure that the JPEG conversion softens but that the RAW renders as is.
But this is only what I feel, and I'm anything but an expert.
