Editing/seeking/Saving very slow

Post by kartikjayaraman »

Hello

I recently purchased Corel VideoStudio X4. I installed SP1 and SP2. I am facing very long delays in a project with 1080p files. The slowness only comes when Smartsounds track is added. If I delete it, everything is back to normal. I have tried rebuilding the index for Smartsounds Quicktracks but the problem persists. Is there a know issue with SS? I am very frustrated with the performance on my relatively high end editing machine (Core i7/16GB/256GB SSD).

Please advise, thanks.

Hi

From memory I think this has been posted before, most users however do not have a problem.
Certainly I have sometimes noticed the delay when using Smart Sounds/Auto Music.
I also noticed slower renders when using Smart Sound.
I am not sure if its associated with different types of video files being used.

My work-round is to replace the Smart Sound clip with a Wav copy.

From Auto Music
1 / Add to timeline
2 / click the word project next to play button--switches to project playback
3 / hit the End navigation button--takes curser to end of project
4 / Add to Timeline, adds copy of Smart Sound clip
5 / click the word project next to play button--switches to project playback
6 / Press Keyboard F3 to set project playback range
7 / Share Create Sound file
8 / Click Options button to choose Preview Range, also set the compression?
9 / press save--copy placed in library
10/ Delete clip in timeline
11/ reset Project playback range ----navigate "home" (first frame) hit F3
12 / Replace original Auto Sound clip with Wav

Sorry if this is a little contrived, but easy after a few attempts

Thanks for the reply, Lata, I will try out exporting the wav file as a workaround. However the beauty of SmartSounds was that the tracks could be dynamically resized, which won't be possibel after the export.

I noticed this problem is not there in Videostudio X5, so Corel knows how to fix it, just that they haven't released a patch for X4. I will try calling customer service today and see if they can address this issue. I am sick of companies which are ever greedy for money without listening to their customers first. Thanks again for your help!
