Audio distortion in rendered video

Post by HealdsburgCA »

I’m using VS Fx4 and I am having a problem I have not experienced before. The audio in my Music Track has an annoying “pop” occurring. The pop does not occur when viewing the project (.VSP), only after it has been shared/rendered.

At first I thought that perhaps the poor quality was due to running other processes while the video rendered or something to do with the video format being used, however rendering the videos after hours and switching video formats (.wmv & .mpeg4) have not helped. You can view one of the videos I’m having an issue with here: http://youtu.be/ihs8mb3sjQo The audio pop is noticeable in the first few seconds of the video.

I have two video files that are currently having this problem, both have Music Tracks.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Sorry left out some details.

The two .VSP projects I'm trying to create video files for are different in that one is composed of a picture slideshow and the other a .MTS camcorder file. The Music Tracks are from Itunes.

Here are the project properties:

NTSC drop frame (29.97 fps)
MPEG files
24 bits, 720 x 480, 29.97 fps
Upper Field First
(DVD-NTSC), 16:9
Video data rate: Variable (Max. 8000 kbps)
LPCM Audio, 48000 Hz, Stereo

Again, any ideas are appreciated!

I appreciate the complements, fatherhood is an awesome adventure, it’s made a lot funner when they are so cute!

Anyways, sorry it took me a few days to post back. I really appreciate all the links. Unfortunately I downloaded the various updates/programs with no change in quality. Your comment about file type got me thinking and I realized I missed the obvious.

I rendered the video again with music from Corel's Auto Music and had no audio issues, so I pulled the song I needed straight from the CD and again had no problems at all. This told me that the ITunes formatting was my problem.

I'm not really big on ITunes and I'd never questioned the default import settings. Come to find out the default import format is an Apple .M4a file format which I don’t think Corel likes. In ITunes I scrounged through the Preferences (View>Preferences>General>Import Settings) and changed the import settings to .MP3, then converted the songs I needed to .MP3 (Advanced>Create MP3 Version).

Problem solved. Thank you again for taking the time to help me out with this relatively simple issue…
