Solving the problem with Prodad licenses, PROX5 ultimate

Hi everyone,

Possibly helpful information for other users...

Machine: Win-7 Pro 64-bit, 16GB ram.

I purchased the Corel Videostudio Pro X5 Ultimate. As with other programs, I installed them under the poweruser account that I normally use.
The installation of actual VideoStudio seemed to work ok. Installation of the files from Ultimate bonus pack disk seemed to work as well ok.
But when trying to use for example, Prodad Vitascene filter, it complained about missing license key. Same with Rotopen.

After many re-tries, I finally manged to get everything installed and working....

----procedure follows---

I logged in as platform admin.
I unisntalled the Corel VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate. I unistalled the ProDad filters (there is unistall programs in their program folder, use them).
I uninstalled the Boris graffitti.
I searched and manually removed any folder/file having to do with Ulead, Corel and Prodad.
I searched the registry for any refrence to Corel, Ulead or Prodad and removed those entries.

(important part comes here)
I then disabled the UAC, rebooted and logged in as platform admin.
I then installed VideoStudio Pro X5 Ultimate and Ultimate bonus pack (including the ProDad filters).
I then installed the VideoStudio SP1, Prodad vitascene update, Prodad rotopen update.

Checked that everything is finally working (under platform admin)!!! Set back the UAC to default
position and rebooted the pc. Logged in as normal user and lo and behold!!! The Videostudio
finally worked ok with ProDad filters!!!!

Yes, fine -- and thank you for the detailed explanation... though it does not really explain why some users, me included, have never had any reported problem with either Vitascene or Rotopen. I have had a number of updates automatically installed from them, but never any problemwith the plug-ins themselves, either originally or as updated...

However, should others have the problems you had, then thank you again for your suggested solution.
