PSPx4 serious annoyance!

Post by magnoliasouth »

Okay, I'm an old PSP 8 user and this is my first upgrade since Jasc's 8 (I so miss Kris!). I was disgusted that Corel bought them and refused to use it... until now.

I have a problem. All I want to do is to create a rectangle a certain size. That sounds simple right? WRONG!

I try to change the size and the stupid tool palette becomes undocked. Over and over and over again this happens, despite the fact that in
File > Preferences > General program preferences > Palettes ...
... Allow docking of > Has all checked
... Automatically show palettes > Always is selected.

So I cannot figure out what is wrong and why I am not allowed to size a vector rectangle. I'm not using the vector for my health. I need to be able to vector it. What is the problem here?

I also cannot figure out why the palette refuses to stay docked. Isn't there a lock or something for that? Why is it refusing to cooperate.

I hate to say it, but PSP 8 is faster and does basically the same thing x4 does. I see no performance improvement at all. I'm Just about ready to burn PSPx4. :x

Sorry for the rant, but I never had this much frustration with PSP, even when I was completely new to it.

Not sure what method you are using to do your rectangle, but after playing around with X4 I was able to produce a vector rectangle of whatever size I wanted.
1. New (or File--> New) choose a canvas size large enough for your rectangle (I chose 1000 x 1000 ) and select vector background under image characteristics and you should have a transparent vector canvas.
2. Select the rectangle tool under Preset shapes tool.
3. Make sure you have Show Nodes and Create on Vector ticked.
4. Draw your rectangle and the Width and Height (previously greyed out can now be changed,.
None of these actions caused my toolbar to become dislodged.
