Nature of the problem:i would like to set a gradient in a form(exactly a text) from the stroke color to the fill color.
do you know if it is possible in pspx4? or which program i can use to do this? :?:
plase forgive me if i opened a new topic but i could not find this anywhere!(and sorry for bad eng! )

If I understand correctly it sounds like you want to use a gradient for text. Yes, that is possible in X4. Just click on the Foreground (Stroke) and/or Background (Fill) color swatch on the Materials palette and then select the Gradient tab on the pop-up box that appears and choose the gradient you want.

I interpret what BestRegna is saying is that they want to use the Foreground and Stroke colours as their gradient.
Most of the gradient choices are fixed colours , but you can edit a simple two colour gradient as a starter and make it use the Foreground and background colours. But save it as a new name otherwise you will lose the original 2 tone Corel gradient you started with.
If unsure about editing gradients there is a good video tutorial by levifiction on youtube

i'm sorry but what i meant is that i would like to create for example letter "O" and colour it,so i set black as stroke color and white as fill color and than create a gradient beetween the two so i obtain that the external part is black than fades into white in the center and than return gradually to black before the central hole.. i know, with letter "o" is simple, playing with the round gradient but i need it for all the others letters and i can' t use the round or square gradient.. i need a gradient that fits the section.. thank you for your help!

For that....if you wanted the text to remain a vector that's a little harder.

You might be able to simulate that, depending on the font you chose, but PSP does not have the ability go blend between the stroke and the fill. It can create a gradient based on the fill and stroke colors but having them seamlessly blend between the stroke and the fill is harder. Also the radial and sunburst options maintain their shape and don't conform to the shape of the gradient. So the "O" would have to be a perfect circle to get the best effect.

One option that might be of use to you is the layer style "Inner Glow." I don't know how well it will work for what you want but it could be worth looking into.

Inner glow creates a "glow" effect (essentially just a smooth gradient based on the color you choose) from the outside portions of the layer, inward. On layers that have a lot of transparency, like vector layers, this keeps the glow confined within the letters or drawn area of the layer. Of course layer styles in PSP aren't all they could be just yet. So you have two very basic sliders for determining the appearance. Size, and Opacity.

In the example above they use the same Inner Glow setting for the layer style but the one on the left has the stroke turned on while the one on the right does not have the stroke turned on.

If you were willing to work with Raster Text (Text you can't edit as text anymore) there might be more options but I would have to do some experiments to find some options as I don't know of any off hand.

I can get you halfway there. You can set your stroke and fill colors and then go into the gradient tab that I described in the earlier post and look for the one labeled "foreground". This is a gradient that has been created from the two colors you chose for stroke and fill. You can then choose the style your want (linear, rectangular, sunburst or radical). You will now have a gradient to use for your text but I don't know that it will behave exactly the way you described. You can try it and see if it works for you.
