X5 Pro Unspecified Error 5.0.0 at start of DVD Burn

Post by neil111 »

Hi. I'm running Pro X5 (trial version). I am getting this same error. I tried to follow the recommendations at http://forum.corel.com/EN/viewtopic.php ... 6&e=256296, but I still get the same error within a couple seconds after clicking "Burn", right after the DVD drive spins up. Note that my media is Memorex DVD+R Lightscribe 16x. I tried selecting both "Maximum" speed and 8x. Same problem in both cases. FYI, my laptop hard drive is a SSD. I want to be sure this application works completely before purchasing it. The file I"m trying to create is only 10 minutes long and 426MB.

Thanks for any advice you can provide! I need this DVD for an event which is in just a few days.
Best regards,
- Neil

p.s., I originally posted this question on a similar topic quoted above, but did not have any response over the past week, so I thought a fresh topic might be more effective. Thanks!

Instead of burning to a disc, instead choose "burning" to either an ISO file or DVD Folder. That way you save wasting a disc. If you choose DVD Folder, you can then play it back on any DVD playing software to check it out. And if it in fact works, then it would suggest there is something physical going wrong, such as your burner not "liking" the type of disc you are using. (Some burners, for instance, prefer -R discs; some don't like a particular dye used on some discs...)
