Install of x5 trial

Post by ajpierro »

I am running paintshop pro x3 and downloaded the trial for x5. I installed it and then launched the program which asked for my email to register the product. After I enter the email it does nothing and, after a while, I get a "Paint shop pro x5 has stopped working" message and it closes. I retried this several times with Anti-virus turned on and off, uninstalled and redownloaded the trial, and installed it again and it still does the same thing. Meanwhile I have received 10 thank you emails from Corel for registering the product and it shows on my account under trial products with a serial number. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi ajpierro, I have purchased X5 as upgrade from X4 and have the same problem. It runs for about 15 seconds, then crashes every time with the windows 7 crash message you describe. I tried to debug crash with VS2010 with no success other than a "Heap conflict problem" error. It must be conflicting with something I have running in background on this computer. I've got a lot of 'stuff' on it. Have you? I logged a call and got some tips to try. Executed to no avail. I have transfered X5 to my work laptop and it works fine on it, so I'll leave it there. It's a DELL Core i5 running Windows 7 64 bit Enterprise. X4 still works on home computer, so I've back / down-graded and will wait for a more robust release that I'm sure will come.

I have been having identical problem with virtually same machine and configuration (except that X5 is not trial, but full purchase).
