Re: Official Statement from Corel
Just trying the new Beta now. Bought C1 and DXO recently, and found it so nice to use ASP once again. Both are excellent programs but ASP feels so much nicer to use. ( had number of Nikon 800E files now to try) ... Image quality is very good, and sharpness as mentioned is improved, not that I can see it, which means its very good. I can use any software I like nowadays, and ASP wins for feel of using it for me. Ian

Re: Official Statement from Corel
What a monumentally ridiculous comment.
...Photoshop is a more effective, and certainly a quicker and more reliable, pixel editor. I still like PSP - I bought PSP 4 recently, just to see how it had come on - but Photoshop is just better (as it should be for the price).
Seriously - your comment is just embarrassing. Adobe is where it is because its software delivers the goods.
I feel for LR users trying to back up the work they did & start pulling their hair out. Or even better, when they just cannot find the files that they worked on in the past. Or more simply, when they loose all the work they did when they switch hard drive. I'm not saying that it happends to everyone. And probably not to you. But it does to too many people. And that, Adobe don't care. They never did as a matter of fact (eg: look at PS. It's now as complicated as a Natural gaz plant!)
Sorry, but coming from RawShooter, LR was a bad experience. It terribly slowed down my workflow, and it's not what I'm looking for.
Talking about PS, Since I'm not a graphics designer but stick to photography, 95% of PS's features are no longer for me. So, I cannot talk about something I no longer use. In addition, they will never support linux.
ASP has very good plug-ins and does everything I need. My workflow is fast (and safe), That's what I need.
Take care,

Lets not argue or fight over other programs. The beta of ASP is out for testing and it's time to test and make this the best program yet.
Thanks.

Re: Official Statement from Corel
I am testing the new beta release and see a lot more lens profiles. Hopefully Corel will add more cameras to.
On my Mac OS 10.8 and Ubuntu 12.04 when editing photos it look like the photo goes in a preview mode. The quality is reduces when I edit such as curves, sharpening and painting. Has anyone noticed this to?
Edit: I noticed an impressive change in speed when opelcl activated

Re: Official Statement from Corel
The key is for beta testers to give 'considered' feedback to Corel and for Corel to take on board the feedback. Corel, to their credit, have given us the opportunity to give them feedback. We can be greatful for that given all the negative posts on this forum in recent times.
I've downloaded the beta version. So far, with very limited time at the computer, I see an improvement in noise handling and some speed gains.
My only 'complaint' is that the download over wrote the old ASP. I had hoped for a side by side comparison but now every time I start up ASP I get the new version. Or am I missing something that will let me run the old version as well?
regards

Whilst you can install the Beta into a separate folder on Windows, there is only a single entry for Corel / Aftershot Pro in the Registry.brucet wrote:The key is for beta testers to give 'considered' feedback to Corel and for Corel to take on board the feedback. So you will not be able to run both versions at the same time.
There may be additional issues if you use your existing 'User Preferences Folder' for both versions.

An official statement saying that "Aftershot is dead" could be the real answer....

I will not wait anymore if ASP is dead or alive. I quit with and ASP and PSP as well.AsterixEtObelix wrote:An official statement saying that "Aftershot is dead" could be the real answer....
Very nice products, but without any support or information you want you're clients to go to other products.......
I will step over to Adobe (LR).
I bought a Pentax K5IIs. This camera is sold since the end of 2012. It is now the end of February 2013 and it is still not possible to manage DNG-files in ASP.

Re: Official Statement from Corel
FWIW, when the Board went down yesterday, I immediately contacted several Corel execs, just to get them to try to expedite a solution. One of them was Craig Copley, who -- you may recall above -- I thought may have left Corel, though others here said no. In fact, Craig responded almost immediately, telling me there had been a fire in a data centre in Taipei which had disrupted the service.
Seizing on the opportunity of actually hearing something from him after more than 4 months silence, I noted the discontent in this forum and suggested even some formal statement of plans from Corel might help. Though I had a couple more emails from him relating to the Board outage, this part of my message remains unanswered. As I said to him, it is not a good look...

A fire is always disrutive. But it was good to hear that there was real problem behind the outage.Ken Berry wrote:FWIW, when the Board went down yesterday, I immediately contacted several Corel execs, just to get them to try to expedite a solution. It is also good to hear that Craig is around; let's hope he gets time enough to hear us.
