Updating from PSP4 Ult Ed to PSP5 Ult Ed?

Post by Brit53 »

Hello Everyone :)
Just a quick question about the updating from one to the other. I paid and downloaded the update version
of PSP5 Ult Ed thinking it would replace Psp4 Ult Ed but much to my surprise I now have the two on my computer!!!
To add to this certain elements were missing from the downloaded software Nik Color Effets for example? Is that normal?
Can anyone help me out on this?
Thanks in advance,
Dave.

Nik Color Effects should come as its own separate download.

And, yes, the "update" pricing isn't an actual "update" in the sense you were expecting. You bought the full version of the software and it was never meant to overwrite any older version. All versions of PSP can supposedly play nicely together. There are many here with almost every version of PSP on their computer all at the same time.

As levifiction has mentioned. Versions of PSP play nicely together. I have PSP8, X2, X3, X4 and now X5 all coexisting on my Xp Home computer. Most of my image editing has been done on x2 for its speed of loading, non complaint about image size, stability and general ease of use.
I found X 3 to be difficult to install originally and even now it has good days and bad days and when performing some actions I get a white out screen, and temporary pause before completion. However I have been using it for ease of use of text although that may be replaced with X4 / X5 as I get used to those.

One advantage I find in having various versions is that I can use the screen capture feature of any version (lacking in Photoshop) to capture an instructional screen of any of the other versions when preparing some tutorils or answers.

As mentioned in many forums there seem to be bugs in all versions and each new version with new features brings its own, so I learn to know my program and use the trouble free one version for whichever activity I am doing at the moment.
Systems available Win7, Win 8.1,Win 10 Version 1607 Build 14393.2007 & version 20H2 Build 19042.867
