Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
The following images show what I mean by "gaps" and shifts in the timeline.
The top image is your audio waveform from 6 to 8 seconds. The bottom image is from my audio waveform
Notice how the envelope starts at different times (not by much but by almost .25 secs). Also notice you have a "gap" between 6.5 and 7.0 secs which does not appear in my waveform. Unfortunately I don't know what could cause this.

Did you use the same method to put the test files into VS?

Those wav files were directly from the Test12 files.

Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
Any chance you can upload those images? when I do a save as the quality is really crappy. I am attempting to contact Corel about the issue and that would be useful information.

Since you suspected that this can be a codec issue, just to make sure that codec is out of the question, you may want to update the codecs on your computer.
Here are some of the codecs that you may want to install.
RealPlayer: http://www.real.com/
DivX: http://www.divx.com/en/software/divx-plus/codec-pack
XviD: http://downloads.xvid.org/downloads/xvidcore-1.3.2.zip
Windows Media Player: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/wind ... dia-player or just download the Windows Encoder at http://www.microsoft.com/expression/pro ... rview.aspx

Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
After downloading all those codecs except quicktime, I tried to convert to mpeg again and it still had the skip problem. I then tried some other formats and one format is working. If I convert to WMV file it does not have the skip problem. I am not 100% sure if WMV files had the problem before I downloaded the codecs or not, I had been using mpegs for some time because they were giving me the best results. So now why would it work converting to WMV file and not to any other file type?

Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
A rep from Corel said:
http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack_FreePlayer.aspx
The program allows several different codecs to convert and several options available with each codec. After re-installing I had bbflashback convert the original files it made for test1 and test2 which it creates them in a .fbr format and then allows you to export to .avi I put a copy of me converting them to divx, xvid and cinepak on upfordown. The original test1 and 2 were done with Microsoft1. The new files can be found here
http://www.upfordown.com/pupload/view/81692
I also decided to uninstall and re-install VideoStudio and after I re-installed it still produced the same skipping issue.
Now one thing that doesnt make sense to me about the Corel reps hypothesis is that the conversion from bbflashback to .avi is the problem, is that why did it work just fine when the canuck from the forums created a video using the same files and the same settings and did not produce an error?
Today I also recieved a response from the guy who had written the comment on amazon about visual studios. When I asked him if he ever found a fix for his problem he wrote:
Thanks everyone for any help you are providing on this gruelling problem.
First thing I tried was uninstalling and re-installing the program I use to create my screen captures. This is the site for the program, it is free and produces very nice screen captures if you want to take a look at how it works or what formats it uses.I have been doing some testing on your Test1 and Test2 files that were uploaded to UpforDown.com and indeed there was some issues with rendering. I decided to run both files through a third party program called G-Spot and it could not determine the codecs within either files. So it looks like that the files that are being captured by this application that you are using are not properly encoding these files. You can find this program at http://www.headbands.com/gspot/ .
After you have downloaded the zip file, extract the contents, and run the executable. After the program has launched, click File > Open > Locate one of your test files > Click the Open button.
The status will show in green if everything is good, and red if there is an issue. The two test files did show up in red showing that the Codecs are not installed.
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling your Capture program and see if that makes any difference? I know that you have installed / updated codecs as per your forum post. Unless there is a real issue on your system, I would suggest reinstalling your capture software.

I have not confirmed if this works yet, when I get home from work today that will be the first thing I check.R. L. Hodges says:
Yes, I did. Use any transition effect, even if you shorten it down to 2 or 3 frames. I use the "Crossfade" transition 99% of the time, but if I don't want a transitiona t all, I still use crossfade and shorten it to just a few frames. Having to do this is a hassle, but it fixes the problem.
Thanks everyone for any help you are providing on this gruelling problem.

Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
It seems I have similar problem or bug. Original video clips with sound have nice continuous sound. But when compiled and exported from Video Studio 5 there is audio gap in several places. Also, if I just render wav audio file, it still has these gaps. You can hear it in 34-35 sec in video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LZOIasK9Yn4, also later in some places. As you can hear, these kind of gaps really ruin the video. I captured screenshots that show the problem. But reduced resolution for upload, so you have to enlarge to see something. Any advice, should I change some settings or anything else is welcomed. Or is just the bug of program?

Re: When Combining clips I get a sound skipping
All these caps are exactly 2ms long. I found that workaround suggested here before works, so if I save it as wmv file, it is all OK, but bug exists when exporting to formats mp4, mpg, wav. With that urgency of my problem is gone, but bug repair or change in settings is still needed.
